I really like colorbonds wallaby... they have some contrasting colours listed below... this might give a dark enough look without being too dark. however would you consider changing roof and trims first and then see how you feel about the brickwork? It might be all you need to do for an updated look. I'd maybe do roof and gutters same colour and then down pipes in a colour similar to bricks so not to stand out..., garage doors maybe the woodland grey?

I just googled & found this site, which quotes cost of R2.5 75mm. there are other suppliers as well. What was quoted to you for cost of roof installation, and was it itemised so you can see exactly what thickness the foil-backed insulation builder will use? I'm guessing the thinner (lower R factor). So, the new quote should reflect a credit for the cost of previous insulation, since it won't be used, then cost of thicker insulation added. Does that make sense? I second James Hardie Axon cladding as it has a vertical groove that echoes the original vertical weatherboard. Or you could get some weatherboard custom milled to match the existing and just patch the damage without doing the whole house. In the photo below I specified the Axon sheet which was then painted lime yellow. Also be aware that some builders will suggest materials that will make their lives easier rather than what actually looks good and will be durable and long-lasting.
