Looks like a fabulous space with endless options. What is your decorating style? Do you want to add drama? If so, painting or papering the wall a dark colour might be an opton. If not, choose a colour or pattern you like and apply to the wall. You can't go too far wrong with grey carpet and bedding...

Hi Houzzers You have all been so kind with your design advice, and helped us come up with this design. I think we are nearly there, and are pretty happy with the result...we still ended up with the door into bedroom from hall....but think it will be ok.....may swing the door the other way...will put doors on bathroom and sitting(not shown) I like the 2 dressing areas we have created either side of our wardrobes, and the seperate toilet. Very happy for any other input on this design before we send it off to the builder!

$3000 is not a lot of money to spend on a make-over. This means that your decsions will be guided by your budget, and what you can live with, and what needs replacing. For instance if the carpet is in a good usable condition (I can't see from the photos or information), then use that as a starting point for the choice of colours and materials for the rest of the space. Your budget will exclude any changes other than paint to your ensuite and existing cabinetwork. One of the most important aspects of a bedroom makeover is the window furnishings to make sure that they block out enough light for those early summer mornings, and keep the heat in during thise cold winter nights. Careful selection of bedside lights can give you a lot of bang for your buck, as can a fresh coat of paint. Unfortunately only generalisations can be made about your makeover without any understanding of the rest of the room, the location of the ensuite, your climate, your existing furniture, the orientation and the type of doors. Good design is informed by understanding the client, the constraints, and the opportunities. You have not provided any meaningful information for a meaningful response. My daughter ran her business from her bedroom until they could afford a 3 bedroom house, their 2 bedder with two boys and no where else to fit an office was a very difficult time which thankfully they all survived. Having your office in your bedroom should be avoided at all cost, as you never leave the office behind as my daughter found out. Your bedroom is where you go to relax , I certainly wouldn't give up my sanctuary for anyone, even my kids. You are there full time so it makes sense. Your house already has enough rooms, except for making a small change to allow for another bedroom albeit small next to the bathroom as per my suggestion, Both of these rooms have space for the boys to have a desk (they don't need a lot of storage being part time) The desk in the living area can be built in to hide an office. This is a low cost solution and won't damage resale value. If down the track you can afford the new deck, try to work out to fit a room underneath as a hang out (media) area for the boys. not sure about WA but rooms like these in some states can have ceiling height at 2100, depends on what name!! you give them. My son is in a similar situation to you, except he now lives in a Studio Apartment in Sydney, so when he has his two kids 50 50 they make do in that space and seem to manage very well.
