True - that’s a last resort but is there any other way we can still incorporate WIR as I like WIR than built ins

Yes - cannot relocate laundry chute anywhere because laundry ‘s location

But is the laundry chute an essential or can it be deleted and people take their washing downstairs?

If you don't like a long line of built-ins then may need to decide between not having a laundry chute and placing WIR as suggested by dreamer or keep the chute and live with how the WIR currently looks. The only way I can see to have both is to move WIR as dreamer suggests and lose some of the WIR internal space for the laundry chute. Not sure if that compromise is worth keeping the chute.

You'd end up with much more useable storage space if you went the built in robe instead. WIR were only worthwhile if there is a large space and they don't impede the function of the room (which the current design clearly does).

Move door to hall against stair to remove interruption to rumpus. Prefer standard robe. But could do walk in.

All these options need the bed floating in the middle of the room.

Good choice and you will end up with more storage space . You can have lovely sliding wardrobe doors , mirrored to look more spacious or luxury custom timber .
