Resene vs Taubmans

Hi There! Those that have used both Resene and Taubmans paints (interior and exterior), which would you recommend?? Our designer recommends Resene (in Half Stack) but painter uses Taubmans and will tint to match (but will use Resene if I'm happy to pay the extra...) Is it worth paying the extra and going with Resene? What has your experience been with both of these brands as I would not have a clue, I just don't want to have to paint the house again for a long long time!!

Taubmans vs Resene is a odd comparison. Resene is a premium paint brand and it’s Black White tint is popular for a gallery feel. It offers a thicker pigmented paint. I’ve not used it but have admired it a lot in magazines. I’ve found Taubmans to be runnier than Dulux and harder to apply. There’s a reason Resene is a higher price point than Taubmans. Having said that there are plenty of houses painted in Taubmans that look great. I would think that a lot comes down to application. You can Google best paint in Australia and read the opinions of professionals. If you’ve chosen and love a particular Resene colour you won’t get an exact replica by tinting into another paint, as it just won’t have the pigment. But it’s always worth a sample point to have a look.

Having done the painting myself Resene is a mych smoother paint to use.

Taubmans is holding up well on the exterior though, and is in a Resene tint

Do you want modern or classic look. China white for classic it changes from grey-to light greenish colour I have it in the same facing room, or for more contemporary try Big white from Taubmans , it's a white with a bit of grey in it very soft. With your grey sofa I would stay away from darker greys and north facing room can make it really dark in the afternoon.

I love that you have gone for a zinc roof on shed and house. With zinc there is no issues with fading and mould and the matching roofs are enough to match your house and shed. Also it is timeless and leaves more options if you change your mind down the track about wall colour. Like you I am also on a country block and had the same dillema when building my home a few years back. My shed is Jasper with zinc roof and guttering. I debated for ages about painting my house shades to match jasper. Someone said to me.....don't make your house an extension of your shed!! So glad I listened. I painted our house a green similar to coloubond mangrove and went for zinc roof and guttering. Everyone went berserk about the zinc roof and guttering (and the green) when I suggested it, but it looks wonderful!.... and very quality. The brown undertones in the green and jasper brown compliment well. The house also has zinc window frames. You want your house colours to look nice next to shed and also you want the house to catch your eye sooner, but not look too matchy. My suggestion is that you go for zinc guttering on the house to match roof, and introduce a different colour to your house that has grey undertones to look nice next to the shed. Hope this helps. Looks amazing heartlyhome Loving the soft pink tile selection!! (insert heart eyes!)
