Interior paint colour suggestions needed
Comments (11)there are some interesting putty grey colours in the knots of your floorboards. I reckon it would be worth holding some paint swatches up to the boards and see if you can find one that ties in with those driftwood tones in the timber . Then order a sample pot in a half or quarter strength version of the matching colour then see how it looks. Otherwise it is so hard to go with colours people have named, as every space has different light. If you are happy with the colour of the floor boards, let them guide your choice and you can't fail (as long as not too dark). :)...See Moresuggestions for paint colours for exterior.
Comments (7)The architecture of your home is wonderful, but the blue is just so wrong in so many ways. "Monument" is a very on-trend colour and is used a lot in contemporary architecture, perhaps too much! It is not the right choice for the style of your home. A lot of your features have carved openings in the timber, and these openings can only be appreciated when the paint colour is light. If you paint these elements "Monument" these features will disappear as there is not enough contrast between the timber and the carved opening, which always looks dark. With so much happening in your elevation, I would go simpler with paint (which your painters will prefer). I would suggest choosing a light monochromatic scheme, such as one of the cool whites from Dulux for all the timber that is currently painted, possibly one of the Lexicon strengths. Whatever colour you choose make sure it works with the elements that you are not painting, such as the decking, the timber ceiling to the porch and the gutter and roof. With your home, the feature is the contrast in light and shade between the timber work and the shaded spaces behind the timber, and you need to make the most of it. Picking out elements in different colours will make it look too busy (as it is now). A simple monochromatic colour scheme is best for your beautiful home - classic, timeless and elegant. Comments (4)Hi Caz Your house has a lot of character. To freshen it up I would look at painting it white. Resene Triple Black White. It's a beautiful soft white but not creamy. The red guttering, which you decided not to touch, I would paint a grey with a green edge. Perhaps look at Resene Half Gravel or Resene Tapa. What I'm trying to do is find a dark colour that blends with your existing roof colour. For all the beautiful fillagree work, (what appears to currently be painted a shade of yellow) and poles, use a paler neutral with a green undertone like Resene Ash/Half Ash. If you want to accentuate the details on the poles or those corner pieces, you can double the strength that is used on the poles i.e. If you used Resene Ash, use Resene Double Ash. Have a play around and decide what colour intensity you like for all the details but don't go too dark, just so you can see a contrast. I think having the beautiful red tiles on the porch is fine and you don't necessarily need to keep the red on the guttering as it is drawing the eye to look at it. That scheme will freshen the house up beautifully. No pictures of front door but a glossy dark grey colour, similar to the colour in the porch tiles will tie it together. It will look beautiful. Comments (4)The only part that possibly should have been accented is the verandah section. Start by giving it all and undercoat to cover the maroon. I’d paint it all a white that is right tone for your blue roof, maybe white on white and then accent the porch in a darker shade like Dulux linen white Do you know what the blue actually is?...See Moreheartlyhome
