I thought it would be, but it's not too bad actually. we door knocked the area to see who would sell, and this house said yes.. so that's why I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it. I would definitely open up the windows. Does anyone know how much even one window would cost... say on the top left combing those 2 windows into 1.. I have no idea. Just a rough guess? The house inside is actually an awesome reno potential.. they built 2 sides of the house in blueboard (I think that's what it's called) for an easy reno... but those windows at the fronts aren't so that's why I"m trying to get ideas..

Lovely area! You have done a great job! Just a thought i would have put decking to one side and only had one side with stone and plants as putting the decking in the middle looks like a runway. Just my opinion. Black stone would look great instead of white. And painting the back bricks would have been better with a darker colour to make timber "pop" like the colour of your fence or black like the posts. Loving your ideas and transformation is fantastic!

an old house in an area that you want to live in while you do all the work of a very carefully planned renovation staged to minimise big loans will add value only if everyone who lives with you can either contribute financially or physically and has the time and energy to at least make dinner while you paint. Building new is much cheaper than renovating but old places are often in better locations. Provided the old place is liveable you can save rent while you save for the next stage of the reno but there'll always be unexpected costs of both time and money eg for our latest reno: about $4000 to remove asbestos from an old laundry and bathroom, $8000 to remove trees, weeks of back breaking labour to remove old plasterboards and carpet, ripping thousands of nails from timber floors to discover the boards were beyond restoration, collecting rubbish and rubble from demolished brick walls and loading at least 20 loads into the ute and driving to the tip and paying to unload it ....but the old stove, doors and windows sold on Gumtree and Ebay and redundant electrical wiring and metal taken to the scrap dealer paid for quite a few take away dinners and didn't we have fun together?

first check with Council to find out what's possible...sometimes if you demolish an old building a new one has to be more restricted in size and placement so renovation of the old could save a useful building but also consider options for building a new garage is a differnet place, size or shape...maybe a new garage could be better placed closer to the house with internal access or closer to the street to free up more of the backyard or?..quotes based on your specific site will determine accurate costs but renovation is often more expensive than a new build although you'll have asbestos removal and demolition costs with either decision but check out online quotes for a steel garage for a base price for the sizes you need
