Hi Jan, thank you for your comment! Sand is the better option as cement cracks easier, especially with our harsh winters.
I assume that the sand doesn't wash away with heavy rains; is my thinking correct? Are there issues with weeds btwn the stones?

Hi Jan,
Weeds can sometimes come through landscaping fabric, but a product like roundup or something of the like usually gets rid of them. Sand does need to be filled occasionally as well.
