Hi Jon LG, the timber we used for the decking is Balau, a tropical hardwood from Indonesia. After laying, we oil it to bring out the warm brown grain of the wood. If it is not oiled again it will silver over time and look weathered which is no bad thing actually and doesn't affect the structural integrity of the timber. But if you want to keep it looking like new, you need to clean it thoroughly and oil it twice per year.
