Temperature can cause your Colorbond roof to expand and contract. This results to all sorts of noises including creaking. Excessive thermal changes and poor installation can cause minor or major noise disturbances. You can reduce these noises if you install insulation blanket with sarking or use reflective foil laminate. Not only will this act as heat insulator, but it also acts as vapour barrier and noise reducer.

You need a roof plumber to check the insulation on the current roof and to suggest improved insulation. But it’s physics that metal will expand and contract with changes in temperature so you may never totally eliminate it. If you increase the greenery around the property you’ll assist with minimising temperature variations.

Agree with bigreader. Google search for a roof plumber/carpenter in your area. Actually phone the business and speak to someone. Don’t rely on website email enquiry, as all businesses are too busy to respond to these messages. Speak to a person and get an appointment.

Thank you bigreader and dreamer. I know a little bit noise from expansion and contraction. But in my home it is extreme. Once it starts popping, it just goes on and on. I just want a solution where it is not heard or hardly heard inside the house.

I’m assuming that you work night shift. It would be very unsettling to not to be able to sleep during the day with your home disturbing you. Hope you find a solution.

Haha. No, I work normal hours. But these sounds are all day and night. and I am a very light sleeper. So, if I hear any kind of sound, I wake up and then it's hard to sleep. And these noises are extreme for me.

My previous rented place never had any of these noises from walls, ceiling or windows. Even some of my friends who built their new home or my neighbours don't get any sounds but I do. And, that's where I am confused if builder did something wrong or it can happen with any home.
