I think a round table would look great under the light. But I think the round table you have is too small. I love the light you have now; it is so unusual. I think a console put against the back wall with either a fabulous piece of art or a pretty mirror would be attractive. I'd like to see a patterned rug that picks up on some of the color of the wallpaper. Some color on the ceiling would highlight the molding and the medallion. I paint it a soft light blue or green. I agree with the other comments the entry would look much nicer without the artificial flowers and pots. I would add a console table with mirror above as they can be both beautiful and useful. The table could be a mix of iron and wood and the mirror framed in iron which would be in keeping with your Tuscan theme. On the table I would place a small bowl or box for keys (house and car) and a vase were you can display perfumed flowers like lilies which will naturally perfume your entry (the also last a good 2-3 weeks and aren't that expensive. If not possible to have fresh flowers all the time then a glass vase filled with lemons, limes or oranges or even some branches with leaves still on will suit your Tuscan style. A chandelier would be lovely and I would suggest a rustic carriage black iron style which would tie in with the border tiles on the floor. I don't think you need an area rug as the tiles already have a border. I love a black front door but I don't think the inside of the door needs to be black so I would leave it white. On the wall opposite the front door I would place a collection of four, six or eight (depending on frame size) pictures of Tuscany in black frames with white matt. It is a lovely entry and it should be inviting and give guests a place to check their appearance before they enter your home. Hope you find these suggestions helpful.

How about whitewashing the bricks in this entrance alcove? If this idea appeals build on this aesthetic. When the shade cloth goes and you have repainted the pergola, how about a beautiful coloured flowering vine (pink, mauve, white)? The potted cordyline only serves to restrict your available light so pop it elsewhere in the garden. For a pop of colour how about picking up that lovely fuschia colour or a colour in that hue from the bromeliads that are in the forefront of your entrance photo. The two horizotnal lintels above the door and window would be candidates for this pop of colour. It doesn't have to be fuschia but I think it has to complement whitewashed bricks. Your outdoor ight fittings age your home and there are plenty of good designed ones out there that don't cost the earth. The door and window I'll have to think about but if I was you I would google the whitewashed bricks idea and build on from there. Your security door make your whole entrance look very unwelcoming and uninviting but I realise it is there for a reason. If you have a bit of money to play with I would look at getting rid of your present door, the half window and the small vertical one beside the door. Open it right up with a wall of glass, but this is a costlier option. Your paved foyer would fit in with white washed bricks also. Regarding your deck. Too much of the brown going on. It doesn't have to match your house. Tie the house to the outdoor environment and paint your railings in a shade of green and choose a pop colour for the top handrail. Repeat his colour in the lintel above the sliding door. I would leave the deck floor the brown colour. It is what it is and it's very serviceable.

Hi Kel B, what a lovely home! I'd recommend doing a long hall runner to replace the rug which is there - and I'd run it from the bottom of the stairs to that lovely console table you have. The Dharma Door have some gorgeous Jute Runners which I think would compliment the timber tones of your stairs and soften the floor beautifully. Let me see if I can attach a link Hall Runner Idea I'd also suggest a large palm of some description in a large pot to sit by the glass panel by the front door at the bottom of the stairs. You may need to move the artwork slightly to the left towards the stairs to accomodate it but I think it would be a worthwhile addition to marry the outdoor greenery with the indoor and from the other end of the hall you will still see the flashes of greenery between the stairs, which would be lovely. I'd maybe bring the console down a few feet so that's it's in the middle of that wall that it's on. i.e centred between that other opening and the end of the wall where is is currenlty. Then, what you could do is put a bench seat on the wall opposite (under the stairs) for putting shoes on an off with some lovely rattan baskets underneath to also hold shoes. Possible with a small indoor plant beside it too. Let me attach some images here for inspo ... Or some hooks on the wall under the stairs to break up that wall? Maybe a round mirror above the console? Plant I'd go as large as... I hope that helps, good luck! Laura
