samr63, Honestly, I think this space is quite beautiful and perhaps you're thinking too much about the elephant in the room so to speak!! If there is one thing I have learned on Houzz, is that there does not have to be a specific style in one room and what I mean is, you have a modern bed but it doesn't take away from the antique fireplace nor vice versa. Definitely as I mentioned earlier, the tall boy doesn't gel at all, nor do the bedsides, but purely because of colour, so I would out them and match the bed with your bedside tables and just stop, the room is very elegant and I really can't see anything seriously wrong with it!!! Perhaps a lovely painting on the bed head wall would soften the room as it's a shame not to use at least one of the picture rails in this room!!! Good luck with your decision. Cheers, Barbara

Sorry Gareth :(( We are trying to do our best for you ............... and you were brave enough ask:))) So glad wuff posted her photos because I just love the way her stairs have been done. Because your porch is smaller I was wondering if you could remove the brick wall and have a step or two similar to wuff's going right around the porch. Talk about great minds here, I notice wuff has a blue pot similar to what I was thinking for your porch (you could maybe have a pair) to pick up the blue in your roof. Wuff I can see where the thinner poles have changed the original character, but sometimes moving on is not a bad thing, I think they could have dominated too much. I'm liking the way your furniture now gets a look in. What time is coffee??

Thanks for the ideas. Really appreciate it. I have a sample pot of surfmist but all I see is green in it. I had not thought of Hog Bristle - I also have some sample pots of it (full, half and quarter) so might try a door. Perhaps I could even try the Natural White? I do have a bit of a thing for white trims......just not this white outside when the sun hits it. Below is a picture of the interior where I have used the Natural White on the walls and Vivid White on the trims and ceiling (paint job not 100% finished).

I love your view! There's options here, and they'll be led by where your blinds are installed in my opinion. It looks like you might need to install the blinds to the face of the architraves, in which case, I'd be selecting pale blinds to sit outside the window as they'll, hopefully be up out of the way most of the time. If they fit inside the recess, then I'd select dark.
