Design Dilemma Bathrooms Bedroom

Floor plan advice please! ensuite and entry

Hi Brainstrust! First home buyers and needing some advice please! Please see original floorplan and our possible updates.

Main question is re main bedroom and ensuite area. We like the idea of this bathroom being able to be utilised by guests, hence seperate entrance, however it creates a poky entryway with lots of doors. Any ideas would be appreciated!

How about something like this? From the dimensions given, the ensuite room isn’t really wide enough to have a shower and door next to each other.

the main bathroom floor plan is good and won't obstruct entry to the shower although i would prefer a set in bath with tiled ledge to cover the gap all around and save the soap and duckies from disappearing behind the bath the ensuite with bigger vanity is better although i suggest a walk in wall to wall tiled shower with glass panel instead of a door, twin or 1800 wide double vanity pushed towards the shower to allow a gap for a hook on the end of the vanity for hair dryer and handtowel and the sliding door off centred to give more space in front of the shower also consider the view from the bedroom with the open door: mirror reversed may suit your room better

I think you should explore the idea of getting a Pod on the deck. its like a mini granny flat / cabana with toilet and small multi purpose room. You might have the space for this. Your layout looks fine as it is, and if you have a covered pergola, a second toilet in a pod will works well there. I am a bit against adding plumbing and moving walls to your house. First its a mess. lots of putting pipes under the flooring, fixing the flooring again, also ceiling and conrice works, and you end up with smaller bed, tighter layout. Too much sacrifice and not too much to gain.

To close out this conversation... we decided in the end to have a separate powder room and this is where the layout is sitting currently. No feedback needed, just thought it would be good to close the look. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks Margot, north is to the right of the plan above, but the master and theatre (east) face natural bushland, and the master is not to the right of the design due to cars entering on each street coming towards that corner (street to front and right). Being a corner block we wanted to keep as much privacy for the master if possibly. We plan on a full fence to enclose the back bedrooms and following that a white picket fence or other permeable fence around to the front, with trees planned on the north and east sides. It can get quite hot in summer here so not hugely worried about heat and sunshine etc. Also wanted the master to face the natural bushland. The garage could go on the boundary, though adds more cost and there is a small power dome so the driveway would need to curve around that. We have taken on board feedback for the bedrooms and powder at the back. Will have a play around and see what we can shift to make the bedrooms bigger etc. Thanks so much for the help :)

I popped a door in hall to help close off bedroom wing and give privacy to the bedroom door opposite hall

I like the first option, i hadnt considered having 2 entries to the bathroom, and this covers best of both worlds.

2nd option also great but i dont want to lose the drop zone/ storage options inside the front door.

why not make the laundry toilet as a powder room for guests (or use the toilet in the bathroom) and make a private ensuite and if there is a step down from kitchen to family room it would be better to have a kitchen peninsula with tall stools as there isn't enough space in the kitchen for a big island and stools and consider losing the side entry from laundry or family room and having access to the garden through the dining area out to a deck at the rear instead

Do you have a site plan showing aspect and how the house sits on the block, is there a garage, thanks

site slopes down to north east, (north is top of drawing) we will replace windows where dining area is now for sliding door to a deck.

there is a carport off left side, we would like access to carport from laundry/pantry room.
