Keep your soffits white or take a risk and do them in the grey of the roof. If under eave lighting is installed the grey overshadowing looks divine. Painting both the soffits and the weatherboard both in dune won't actually allow you to differentiate a tone, as dune is a metameric colour and is viewed differently in different lint etc, it can be a weak shade. However, if the soffits are clean white the dune will have a stronger impact, which is what I'd do, or the grey would accent the roofline if it's architectural. However as your windows are also white I'd lean toward White soffits too. The fascia and gutter are best in the roof colour anyway, they are not particularly a feature, particularly if your roofline is gabled. If you want to introduce colour, do it on your front door. I will say reconsider white windows as they will tend to look unpainted next to the dune walls and a grey roof. If it's only featured on the soffits lining which doesn't count as a colour, the windows may just look undercoated. I'd do them grey also. As far as accent colour goes, most would work, however they would need to be low chroma, meaning not bold vibrant colours rather somewhat dulled down in brightness, so insteadof being orange a low chroma orange could be a terra-cotta. For example not saying do that. I like the idea of an ink blue.

Hi kcommens, yes we're very pleased with the kitchen. We were only commenting the other day that we don't ever notice the thickness of the stone. I still love the stone we chose and it's the top of the stone that's the most visible by far so I'm so glad I didn't compromise with a stone I didn't like so much. I have a before and after folder in my profile if you'd like to see a photo. Anyone thinking of quartzite.... I'm very happy with its durability so far. Not a mark or scratch. I like that it looks more like marble in its markings (without the spotttiness of granite) yet has the duribility of granite. Good luck. Love to see photos when you're finished.

@girlguides we haven't finished the project but this is the architect's concept drawing of our abode. Note that we have already had the new louvres installed on the top floor but we went with white frames instead. And unsure if we will go to the effort of changing the current soffits from fibro to the wooden panels on this picture due to the money and time that would go into replacing something that works perfectly well. And we will now most likely have another driveway on the most left side of the house for a carport on that side, as the current carport is only wide enough for one car, and we always need parking for at least 2 cars. We now have to figure out how to build in the underneath in terms of where to place the internal stairs, the bedrooms, and most importantly the front door. Will update with our plans once finalised!

I have one of those Monika and I would venture to say that you wouldn't be able to cut it flat because with everything around everywhere having the waved top it would look really odd I think, and I doubt whether you would be able to paint it at least until the development is well over or you could find the developers all over you, along with residents who like yourselves have signed to agree to the covenants. A lot of people enter into these developments because there is a better chance of people looking after their properties however I will say that I am the only owner occupied in my part of the street, and I am forever weeding everyone else's garden, picking up the rubbish blown from the sea breeze on new builders not looking after their rubbish and the renters chucking empty beer bottles where they have sat on the steps drinking and throw the bottles into the garden and I actually water the rental alongside me as our gardens join, as yours probably does, and they refuse to water it. I want my place to look nice and if left to these renters it would look like homeless shelters. I think the tall pots and something like the black bamboo could look really good :)
