This was both aesthetic and functional. This fireplace is set in the wall quite high and to avoid damage from heat rising from the fire, the TV would have had to have been hung far to high to be comfortable. It is also hidden in the corner, allowing the fireplace to be the feature, without the TV distracting from it.
