Redesigning our house including kitchen, two bathrooms & laundry. Ideas?
Comments (53)Thanks Jayme, I get what you mean, it's just not really practical for our house & will make the renovation a lot more difficult & expensive if we start moving walls like the to gain an extra couple of feet. It's possibly a load bearing wall too. But that area which is currently our kitchen where we are thinking of putting the fire place isn't the main living area, it's basically the centre of our living area which is a long room from one end of the house to the other, so we were thinking having the fire there will warm the house better being that it will have the kitchen & dining table one side of it & the lounge the other side. I think we could it a couple of cozy arm chairs & a small coffee table or we could just put a love seat up against the section of wall opposite the fire?...See MoreNEED BATHROOM LAYOUT HELP FOR NEW BUILD
Comments (11)my suggestion includes a free standing or set in bath up to 1800 x 800 (the "overhang" would be a feature not a restriction) and any gap between the set in bath and the walls can be filled in with an extended tiled ledge, twin 900 x 500 or an 1800 wide double vanity with matching mirrored wall cabinet, a 1200 x 800 shower and the toilet tucked behind the door with a generous window over the bath, subject to view and privacy, a window down as low as the bath with plantation shutters for privacy could work very well in the alcove...See MoreBest layout for this bathroom? Comments (34)Decided on carrara marble 300x600 tiles and honed nero and carrera for the shower floor. Floor to ceiling for the shower and up to the 1300 from the floor and painting the rest. 1. What colour fittings best suit carrara marble and keeps the transitional victorian theme? 2. The 3.24 wall has plasterboard over exposed brick. Do you think it would look nice if I took the plasterboard off and left that part exposed brick? Any Response Appreciated!!...See MoreCharacter bathroom with issues
Comments (22)I am going to be the odd man out...I greatly admire dark painted vanities: charcoal, navy, dark grey, even a mid grey, but I certainly understand restored timber would also be beautiful. If you were to do this, I would also paint the mirror frame in same colour. I am not sure you will achieve a particularly good result by painting the decorative tiles. For one thing it would be almost impossible to match the colour to existing tiles perfectly. I did this recently in an old kitchen (using linen colour chalk paint) and the outline of decoration still shows, and I painted the entire backsplash. In saying that, it was a good temporary fix for our purposes. The painter who painted the interior of this same older house recommended I paint the rather ugly old kitchen floor tiles, and he named a paint but I can't recall it just now. I like your idea about painting your floor light grey. I viewed the drivenbydecor link provided above in another post and was impressed with the results. It's worth a shot. Would also contrast beautifully with a dark painted vanity, hint hint....See MoreUser
