How exciting for you Stacey! I was going to suggest white or marble patterned tiles in an interesting layout design on the splashback. To simplify it, I'd use the same tile over the entire splashback. Tiles are by far cheaper than glass or mirror and so much more interesting. Going for a ceramic over marble tiles is cheaper again. Cheap may not need to be boring, also consider the grout colour, as it can really change the look and feel also. Good luck!

Yes, all the Houzzers have been extraordinarily helpful. I am sure in the end, it will be a beautiful room. With regards to the change of sofa style, I was unsure of my ability to keep the white leather clean - particularly the stitching. By finally going with the "Julio" it is slightly more comfy sofa than the "Ariel". It has a higher back and I feel the "granite" colour will give me less hassles. In reality, the "granite" colour has slight yellow/creme undertones which tie back better with the curtains but this doesn't really show up in pictures. Golly, I hope I am on the right track. You are kind to say that, Julie. Hubby also washed and polished the floorboards in the two rooms we decided to retain. They look much better as well. This has been fun project; don't quite know what I'll do with myself after it's completed! :) although, in saying that, there is the garden here to keep us occupied...!
