Hi Carmel, I'm not a architect and I do value everyone's professional opinion, but can't help thinking that perhaps you and your husband are both right. The breakfast table would look great in a natural stone, it is the where you eat, have tea or wine on, maybe a small project, entertain or have a fork fight on. Choose a granite or marble that's going to tie in with the splash back and your lovely timber floors and go with a wow factor like a stand out vein or run of colour in it. Makes it interesting. As for the rest a dark or even black solid surface or laminate is ideal. I find them soft and touchable, easy to maintain, a pleasure to work on and it adds the extra modern elements that's missing from this lovely galley style kitchen. Corian is another brand of solid surface but a textured dark laminate from A reputable laminate supplier should do it too. Make this room an energy that you want to be in not just look great. Hi kristymacd, after changing my mind many times we went for a built in 1700 bath! Mostly as builder and tiler thought it would be easier to slope the floor properly and I liked the idea of the slightly larger built in compared to the 1590 back to wall. I’m sure a back to wall would’ve been possible and been fine, it all just got a bit hard and I knew both would look good. And I don’t think a back to wall would be any harder to clean than a built in - with a built in you have the hob and tiled face of the bath and back to wall there is the floor either side of the bath - same same! Here’s a pic of ours, not totally finished yet but really happy with it.

I can't even work any of that sorry . I assume the stone you have to have is that greyish larger square in the middle of both pictures ? Where is that going ? The vanity is the light powdery blue that is in one of the pics ? What are the floor tiles ? What else do you want ? Wall tile colour ? Shower tile colour ? Maybe thats where the grey tiles are going , or maybe its the floor ? At a guess , if the vanity is that powdery light blue then go with a stronger blue somewhere --- I quite like semi-see-thru blue glass tiles in small doses , maybe even some really strong blue almost violet tiles too , or if going modern , how about those tiles that are maybe 30mm tall , various lengths up to 250mm , in a strong blue but mixed with say black and even brushed stainless ( which I'm guessing is similar to nickel ? ) of the same size ( you can get them already made on a cottony backing ) with a white grout . But I may have it all wrong , and you may want white and grey and nickel and no real colour .

That's interesting to see the photos, I just re read your dilemma, it would certainly be more cost effective to keep the toilet where it is and I personally think it's in a better position with the pocket door pulling back towards it keeps it private whereas the other toilet will be exposed by the door doing the same thing. Even keeping the shower plumbing instu directing the water away from the window. My 3 way bathroom has the shower setup like this with a 900 square with another 900 space beside it 1800 total with a smaller window in the 2nd space for standing and drying. you have a longer 2400 space total. Did you consider changing the window
