Which is best—wool, nylon, or wool-nylon blend carpet?

We're replacing the carpet in the sitting room and study and have looked at wool, nylon and wool-nylon blend carpets. So far we've been advised the following: nylon carpet is easier to keep clean than woollen carpet; dirt easily gets trapped in the woollen 'ribbed loop pile' carpets; on the other hand 'twisted loop pile' carpet often looks marked because footprints etc. leave an inprint ... the list goes on.

We currently have a pure wool berber carpet in those rooms that's been there for 30 years, and has lasted well, and we are rather partial to having wool again–although it's more expensive. Both of the rooms do not have much traffic.

Also, from what I've seen of carpets so far, there doesn't seem to be much difference in the designs or colours of carpets since we bought the last lot 30 years ago! Would love some comments.
