Breaker Street Kitchen Project
Coastal Apartment Renovation – Main Beach
Our clients engaged us to redesign their apartment kitchen to bring in more light, functionality, and a timeless coastal elegance. The brief was to create a refined space that felt calm and connected to the surrounding ocean views while enhancing everyday usability and storage.
Cabinetry
The cabinetry features a classic Shaker-style profile finished in 2pac satin white, delivering a clean and enduring aesthetic. To complement the bright palette, brushed brass hardware was selected for a subtle touch of sophistication. Open timber shelving in Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt introduces warmth and texture, tying beautifully with the timber flooring and coastal-inspired décor. All cabinetry was custom-built to maximise every inch of available space, including full-height storage and a dedicated appliance nook.
Benchtops & Splashback
The benchtops are Caesarstone Aterra Blanca, chosen for their soft veining and high durability. The same material was extended up the wall as a full-height splashback, creating a seamless, luxurious finish that reflects natural light throughout the room. The large L-shaped breakfast bar provides generous preparation space and breakfast seating, enhancing the kitchen’s social and practical design.
Appliances & Fixtures
The layout was planned around a combination of integrated and freestanding appliances to suit the client’s cooking and entertaining style. Inclusions feature:
• Double wall ovens and induction cooktop
• French-door refrigerator
• Dishdrawer dishwasher
• Undermount butler’s sink with brushed brass mixer
• Built-in wine fridge and coffee station
Lighting & Styling
Under-cabinet LED lighting adds functional task illumination, while minimal white ceiling lights maintain a crisp, uncluttered look. The overall styling embraces soft coastal textures.
Design & Functionality
Every element of this kitchen was designed to feel spacious, light, and effortlessly functional. Clever storage solutions and well-proportioned benches ensure ease of use without compromising aesthetics. The result is a calm, coastal-inspired kitchen that seamlessly blends modern convenience with timeless style — perfect for apartment living and entertaining alike.

Originally a church and community centre, this Northside residence has been lovingly renovated by an enthusiastic young couple into a unique family home.
The design brief for this kitchen design was to create a larger than life industrial style kitchen that would not look lost in the enormous 8.3meter wide “assembly hall” area of this unassuming 1950’s suburban home. The inclusion of a large island that was proportionate to the space was a must have for the family.
The collation of different materials, textures and design features in this kitchen blend to create a functional, family-friendly, industrial style kitchen design that feels warm and inviting and entirely at home in its surroundings.
The clients desire for dark charcoal colour cabinetry is softened with the use of the ‘Bluegrass’ colour cabinets under the rough finish solid wood island bench. The sleek black handles on the island contrast the Bluegrass cabinet colour while tying the island in with the handless charcoal colour cabinets on the back wall.
With limited above bench wall space, the majority of storage is accommodated in 50-65kg capacity soft closing drawers under deep benchtops maximising the storage potential of the area.
The 1meter wide appliance cabinet has ample storage for small appliances in tall deep drawers under bench height while a pair of pocket doors above bench level open to reveal bench space for a toaster and coffee machine with a microwave space and shelving above.

What the clients said: ” The end result of our experience with Anne and Kitchens by Kathie is a space that people walk into and everyone says “Wow!”. As well as being great to look at, it’s a pleasure to use, the space has both great form and function. Anne was extremely responsive to any issues or concerns that cropped up during the design/build process which made the whole process much smoother and enjoyable. Thanks again Anne, we’re extremely happy with the result.”

While this is a beach house kitchen, it would sit just as comfortably in an exclusive home on the European Alps. There is a lot of timber in this kitchen, yet there is no feeling of timber overload a la 1970's scandi-mania! So, what keeps this timber chic? High impact black engineered stone bench tops take the eye from the wood giving a feeling of warmth and a laid back air. Hard wearing terracotta ground the timber without going overboard on the brown tones. There is a definite luxurious cinnamon flavour happening here and it is pulled off expertly by the designer.

This elegant kitchen and utility room project in Eskbank showcases a design that balances tradition and modernity with ease.
The Shaker-style cabinetry, supplied by BA Components, features a soft pairing of Sage Green and Antique White finishes, creating a fresh yet timeless look across both spaces.
Storage and function were key to the design, with the cabinets offering a clean, classic aesthetic while providing ample space for everyday essentials. The gentle contrast between the two tones brings visual interest without overpowering the space, making it feel bright, calm, and cohesive.
Topping the cabinetry is Silestone’s Calacatta Gold Quartz worktop, delivering a luxurious touch with its bold veining and warm undertones. A solid oak breakfast bar extension on the island adds texture and warmth, serving as a welcoming spot for casual dining or morning coffee.
Appliances have been carefully chosen for performance and style, including a Miro venting induction hob that offers streamlined functionality without the need for a separate extractor. A Blanco 4-in-1 boiling water tap completes the space, adding everyday convenience.
