The existing dwelling was dark and felt uncomfortable due to the lack of natural light and multiple level changes. The new extension to the rear consolidates the ground floor layout and creates a light filled, relaxed kitchen and dining area which, in turn, draws light into the existing family room. the inclusion of a bathroom and concealed laundry on the main floor allows the client to reside on one level for now and into the future, High ceilings and tall windows and doors increase solar access to an previously dark, cold space. The extension is small in footprint but large in impact.
