Modern feel on traditional extension
Starting with a beautiful, but small and tired Queenslander, with a Traditional Building Character overlay, the brief was for a significant two storey extension and remodelling of the existing home. The client came to us as a recommendation from Rob Graya – Graya Constructions, after they had a less than successful experience with their previous designer. The biggest challenge of the brief was the client’s desire to create a strong connection of the main indoor and outdoor living spaces to a level yard and pool. The problem with this was the fact that the block had angled boundaries and a significant slope from front to rear, the solution was to utilise the pool as a retaining structure at the rear of the site, allowing us to fill between the pool and the house, creating a level yard and the connection the client was desiring! The finished product, as you will see, is stunning, with very high quality finishes and bringing a modern lifestyle to the home, while maintaining a strong connection to the character of the original home.
