In 1985 Studio RAI Architectural Design P.C. was created as an active and diversified architectural firm with a permanent staff of design professionals. Since then, it has completed a wide range of commissions including private residences, libraries, commercial buildings and interiors , religious, adaptive reuse, preservation projects, feasibility studies, and master planning. The firm is capable of working with diverse project scales from the designing and detailing furniture through urban design. Our philosophy has always been to combine design excellence with technical know how. The content of Studio RAI's architecture is clearly influenced by the aesthetic and cultural impulses that are intrinsic to the particular occasion and place of a project. Context is the generating principle of a project, it includes not only the physical environment and site, but also the programmatic and functional requirements of the project and the historical and aesthetic imagery intrinsic to its place. The synthesis of all the elements of context creates a meaningful identity for the project. Our clients have provided us with the most exhilarating aspect of our work; transforming vision into reality. We look forward to the continuation of these rewarding relationships and the creation of future collaborations. Our experience with diverse projects has enabled the development of an in-house staff capable of executing all stages of projects, from conceptual design through construction. In addition to the regular staff, we have established working relationships with leading consultants who bring their special expertise to the project team.

Mark Demmerle has built his career on the design and construction of residential architecture. A native of New Canaan, Connecticut, he earned his graduate degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame, where he spent a year in the university's architectural program in Rome. Focusing on classical architecture and the design of contemporary buildings in a classical manner following precedents of Vitruvius, Palladio and Vignola, this grounding in a Beaux Arts approach had a profound influence on his design that continues to inform his work. My approach to design is first to understand the spirit of the site as my designs are site-specific; the character of the site is what informs the design response. It is important for me to experience the nature of the site throughout the seasons and plan a design that is of the site rather than on the site. I look for the poetry in the forms and how they might flow across the landscape. The characteristics of the site- water features, the nature of the landscape, rock formations, views, natural forestation-will also influence the shape of the building's footprint and the nature of the material choices. In a sense, the site is telling me what kind of building would be a welcome partner. My work serves to enhance the beauty of creation rather than compete with it. Just as there are no two places on earth that are exactly the same, no two architectural projects should be identical.

Richard Kotz Architecture specializes in high end residential construction. The firm's designs, whether new construction or renovation, blend today's modern conveniences with old world charm. Traditional styles, such as Georgian colonials or Shingle Style Manor Houses are a Kotz signature. Families like homes with curb appeal, but they also want homes to suit their lifestyles. They love entertaining at home - the kitchens in a Richard Kotz home reflect this. State-of-the-art features such as center islands, Viking stoves or wolf ranges, granite-top counters, and Sub-Zero-style refrigerators are for thos who love to entertain family and friends. Luxury homes today are about beauty, elegance and above all, a wonderful use of space. A "Richard Kotz home" incorporates all of these. They are grand and spectacular but they are homes that families can envision living in and settling into. They are homes where comfort and beauty are woven naturally into the design. Richard Kotz Architecture is a full service architectural firm with offices in Greenwich, CT. Prior to establishing his practice in 1992, Mr. Kotz was the designer for Trump Palace, the tallest condominium high rise on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Richard Swann, AIA, is a registered architect in Connecticut and New York. He received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California at Berkeley, a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Rick’s firm is an independent practice devoted almost exclusively to private residences. Reflecting an appreciation for eclectic design, many of his projects have been shingle-style homes and beach cottages. Swann is also well versed with the New England vernacular, and the classical Georgian or Greek-revival model. He strives to fit solutions to problems, listening to clients' needs and wishes—not working in a single signature style. Most of Rick’s projects incorporate open, airy, sunlit and comfortable – almost contemporary interiors for informal living. He tries to bring as much empathy and insight to "interior architecture"—kitchens, baths, interior finishes and specifications—as to the structural architecture itself. Rick has designed homes most recently in Greenwich, Westport, Southport, Fairfield, Darien, New Canaan, Rowayton, Stamford and Scarsdale.

Stuart Lathers Associates LLC specializes in the design of well-researched and rigorously-detailed buildings. Through adherence to the traditions of design and construction detail, our buildings not only withstand, but are enhanced by the passage of time. Throughout the process, we strive to maintain simplicity and continuity as fundamental guiding principles. Our work is founded upon the belief that even the most contemporary buildings can remain essential objects of human design and craftsmanship. Successful architecture is the result of intensive effort, personal responsibility, and wholehearted commitment on the part of all members of the project team. It requires active collaboration between the client, project design team, contractor, and all of the construction trades. Engagement in the process of construction practices is essential to this end. The organizational structure of our firm ensures direct principal involvement in all aspects of a project's development. This intensive approach allows greater attention to the details of architectural service, which results in buildings that are refined, unified, and consistent. We welcome the challenge of existing conditions. The object of renovation work can either be to allow the new to appear as if it has always been a part of the existing, or to design an addition with a discrete aesthetic that complements or even augments the original architecture. We have been involved in many renovation and expansion projects, incorporating contemporary and traditional approaches to architecture.
