Justin and the team at Ardent Architects have been absolutely fabulous to work with. They could understand the vision we had in our head and translate it to paper without our ability to articulate it properly. They gave us exactly what we wanted and more, the result far exceeded our expectations and we WILL be using them in the future. Ongoing site visits meant that during construction they were able to tweek our finishes and enhance the ambiance of the final product! They were always available to do resolve build-ability queries and talk us though new materials and finishes we had not considered. Our house looks stunning and we are constantly receiving compliments on the design. We have been asked so many times who the Architect is that we put a sign on the fence. The team at Ardent Architects were able to all of our rather large wish list in the extensive renovation and importantly they have added immense value to the finished product. The wall of glazing and the void are a few of my favorite features and the volumes of the rooms have created just the look and feel we were hoping to achieve.

I have photographed a couple of projects by RMR Architects and have found Renuka to be a thoughtful architect who not only addresses the need of her clients but provides them with a house design that is elegant and very liveable.

We have used Ed for both of our renovations and have found him to be a great architect. For our first project we used Ed for both the design and the project management of a small renovation. We loved the design which dragged a 1970s monstrosity of a house (think lots of mission brown and wood panelling) right into the 21st Century. Tweaks that Ed made to layout just made the house 'work'. We were exceedingly happy with the result. Ed and his team worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that while we had the usual decisions to make, any of those problems that inevitably turn up on the site were solved before they hit our radar. Our second project was based in Sydney (see Ed's project titled 'Springfield' ) and although we spoke with some local architects we didn't get the same comfortable feeling as we had with Ed. Our second renovation was a major undertaking on a heritage listed house where there had been multiple renovations done in the past and little coherence. The floorplan had small spaces left over that had no practical use and the house was very tired. We extended but only by a small amount but again by rationalising the floorplan we have ended up with a much more usable space. The end result is a gorgeous home. This time I was the project manager but Ed and his team remained on call through-out for whenever my builder or I had any queries. What I love about Ed is that we have achieved a great balance between gorgeous design and practicality. The space looks fab but it is also easy to live in and we love that!
Chadwick Architects
Brunswick, Victoria Architects
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars6April,2019
We have engaged Chadwick Architects on a number of occasions to help and guide us through concept development and the town planning process. Our projects with Chadwick Architects have involved renovations and extensions to our family homes. Chadwick Architects understood our brief, was keen to workshop different options and provided a number of concepts through the design process. They cleared articulated and explained the design rationale, optimising the design within the constraints of the site. On multiple projects, Chadwick Architects delivered a tailored architectural design package consistent with our brief. Throughout the process, Chadwick Architects were professional, added considerable value and were efficient with designs and plan amendments. Chadwick Architects were wonderful to work with, creative and their product exceeded our expectations. The quality and detail of the proposed plans made them easy to interpret and for us to see their vision. We will certainly consider Chadwick Architects again for a future project, and would highly recommend them to anyone

My wife and I asked Ammon Beyerle of here studio to come to our house and give us some advice and a quote of extending our house. We had a number of other Architects do the same. We immediately connected with him because he showed connection and empathy and provided some very intuitive advice that no other Architect did. Once we engaged with here studio the work and service was seamless and high quality.

I engaged Andrew and Urban Creative after meeting with four architect firms. I chose Urban Creative as Andrew soon demonstrated his knowledge, flexibility and ability to design the property we desired on a site with a number of constraints and within a tight budget. Urban Creative provided all planning and architecture services from a feasibility study through to construction supervision. The planning process was very smooth and Andrew managed subcontractors (geotechnical, structural, traffic consultants etc.) to maximise efficiencies and ensure the desired outcome. I would highly recommend Andrew and Urban Creative.

Adam and his associates are professional and client focused. Our requirements were developed in a relationship of knowledge, respect and friendship. With an emphasis on a low maintenance, eco-friendly house and environment for a one acre, borderline suburban rural sloping site, Adam's attention to detail is very much appreciated. Our house is carefully designed to address sun and shade, use of natural breeze, views, privacy. It received a 6 star energy rating in the design phase alone.
tessellate architecture and design

We engaged Tessellate for a renovation and extension to our family home. They really understood our needs and responded to our brief with a number of well thought out concepts which they went on to fine tune as we gave then feedback and further discussed how we would use the space and our lifestyle, before we came to the final design. Their ideas were practical and functional but also had a special design aspect that we would never have conceived of by ourselves. Steven Swain was very conscious of cleverly making use of the current structure to manage costs. We had a very strict budget and we worked together to prioritise the areas we wanted to invest money in and where we could save without losing the overall vision of what we wanted to achieve. The drawing were detailed and well thought out and the team went above and beyond to help with questions and clarifications before and during the build and they had a personal investment and pride in the overall outcome. The outcome is a warm and inviting family home that is a delight to live in and regularly gets words of praise from our visitors. I would use Tessellate again without a doubt.

Rebecca was the architect and site manager for a substantial renovation to our house in Moor Street Fitzroy. The house, which had been converted in a very haphazard fashion into 3 apartments 30-40 years previously had great bones but needed considerable and skilled renovation to return it to its former glory as a family home. The building had a long and chequered history, including as a boarding house where Weary Dunlop lived as a student. We were keen that we retained the unique character and feel of the house and made maximal use of its position, natural light and views over Fitzroy Town Hall. Rebecca was a joy and inspiration to work with from the outset. She was innovative, rigorous, and listened carefully to our suggestions, especially around environmental impact and overall feel of the property. She was incredibly resourceful in sourcing products and ideas, which made a huge difference to the final design. For example, the suspended cupboards in the kitchen – a real winner given the relatively small size for storage – came from a 1950s design magazine. She managed the project meticulously all the way through, and worked extremely well with the builders and other contractors, who clearly respected her professionalism and skill. This was not an easy project – the house had been renovated repeatedly over the years and the legacy meant no wall was straight and no two doors the same size. The final renovation is superb – understated but spectacular. We haven’t had a visitor who hasn’t been amazed by the house and renovation. I’ve lived in over 40 houses and flats in the last 30 years and this is undoubtedly the best house yet. This is partly due to the original structure but also because of the renovation; I’m sure a less skilled architect could easily have made a dog’s dinner of the project. Rebecca also clearly has an aptitude and commitment to teaching and I know that she is heavily engaged in community and voluntary work in Australia and overseas.
