Awkward living room - need help!
Comments (13)Thanks for the suggestions. I can't hang or mount the tv as I'm renting. The tv won't fit in those wall gaps either :( Ideally I'd like to put the tv on the main wall and put the sofa opposite but I think the sofa would be too close to the tv and there would be only a very narrow walkway behind to access the bedroom and bathroom. It's tough! I think having the tv in front of the window may be my best option. Not much direct light gets in due to the fence and trees outside the courtyard. There are also blinds which block out the light. Here are some ideas I'm going off at the moment: https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/south-florida-family-estate-modern-family-and-games-room-miami-phvw-vp~2830052 https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/urban-family-getaway-contemporary-family-room-dc-metro-phvw-vp~3206796...See MoreArtwork & cushion ideas for my small living area
Comments (16)@oskuee - Wow - that's a bit hostile! Why are you so upset? Other professionals constantly add their comments and suggestions to Design Dilemmas, so why can't I? There are MANY names which appear constantly in nearly every Design Dilemma. I see you have made 1150 comments yourself! This Houzzer has asked for artwork ideas and that is precisely what I am providing. I am giving them advice as to what may/may not work in their space. I'm a hard working Australian Artist trying to make a living, like everybody else and I'm a little frustrated with people sending others to places selling mass produced art, when Australia is rich with creative talent. Shouldn't we be supporting the work of Australian Artists? Original artworks need not be expensive and I don't believe everybody needs to go to the majors for a cheap artwork. I offer affordable art for any size budget. If you have a problem, please send me a direct email....See MoreFurniture placement for awkward living room layout
Comments (3)where does the short hallway lead and is it possible to remove that wall? with small children i would be keep as much clear floor area as possible with easy access to storage for games and toys and there appears to be enough space for two x three seater lounges and two small armchairs (that can be easily moved into different locations and but having furniture with open legs instead of covered to the floor and small coffee tables and/or foot stools will help the space feel less crowded...See MoreAdvice please - size of artwork behind the couch
Comments (10)Hi Lili, There are certainly 'rules of thumb' when it comes to artwork. We wrote a guide on how to measure up for the perfect size artwork and its actually not that difficult to find an artwork in the dimensions you need... if you know where to look! Art is very personal choice, but you might like to take a look at the original collections in our online gallery. We produce all our artworks bespoke, in the exact dimensions to suit - either a single panel, or multiple panels, as you'll find illustrated in the gallery. A relevant project review is linked here https://www.houzz.com.au/viewReview/682538/signarture-review Below is another popular example of our frameless perspex artworks - and in that position, benefiting from the changing light through your full height glazing, would create wonderful shadowcasting. There's plenty more inspiration in our gallery - please just PM if you find something you love!...See MoreLaura Sauls
