What do you put on your coffee table?
Comments (5)At the moment I don't have a coffee table but a good tip is to use a tray to display or place items on as you can easily pick it up and move it if you need more space or to clean the table. You could use a wooden one, rattan or even a vintage silver plated tray, whatever suits your style. As for items, a few lovely coffee table books stacked neatly, a decorative container, maybe a bowl with wooden, glass or ceramic balls, a hurricane lamp with candle could be placed on the table and a vase of flowers is a must. Look around for items that suit the theme of your decor, ie if it's coastal you could use a lovely piece of white coral, a blue and white vase and some lovely books on coastal style....See Morewhat else to improve?
Comments (15)Agree with all comments above. You have done an amazing job in a short period of time but the lace could do better with personal touches (personality), specially on the walls and higher part. Some examples by the pictures you posed: Picture 1: - far corner and wood fire can be dressed up with shelves and small decor. - a picture frame or even nice vertical garden (I make those :)) to break the pake of the wall and sofas. Picture 2: - A nice tall plant or hanging plant between the slim table and the door. - Some shelves or painting on the walls. - Ad more personality to dress the slim table....See MoreTime for the vase to go ... what else can I put in the recessed wall?
Comments (84)Absolutely agree with blueskies60 ! Remove the artwork/bench/plant that's on the left and replace then with either a bookshelf or a tall chest of drawers. Perhaps the plant can be repositioned into the corner on the floor where this troublesome niche is (there seems to be more than enough light there for a plant) and just place something calm and simple in the niche itself - perhaps a Japanese style scroll or pen and ink art work set off with a more rounded object sitting in the left corner of the niche; a gorgeous rock, a lovely candle, a calming statue... If you have (my preference) a chest of timber drawers on the left where the current art work is, you'll break up the symmetry, have more storage and have another surface upon which you can place a changing display of objects. This is the area that I would utilise for a mirror....See MoreOur Reno floor plan - what else could we do?
Comments (7)I would be looking carefully at your bathroom and powder room arrangements, especially with the shower and water splash distances. I can't see any shower screens to either shower? As it is drawn I hope you like mopping floors after every shower. For a family home there will be privacy issues when someone needs to access the laundry, while another family member is having a shower. I would separate the laundry and family bathroom into two distinct rooms as the current design is a compromise. With space so tight the second shower in the powder room seems excessive, and it is so small it is not very functional. You need to think carefully about the freestanding bath, the space it takes up, and the cleaning around it. A more traditional bath hob will give you fewer compromises in other areas as it will take up less space. Have you considered flyscreening with your bi-fold doors to the rear? Have you considered how you are going to furnish the living room? There is lots more, no doubt other Houzzers will pick up on.
