Girl's bedroom storage

I am planning a makeover for my girl's bedroom. I want to use a daybed from Ikea (that open up as a queen size bed) (see pic). My problem is storage around the bed. There is a space of 35cm next to each end of the bed. As the sides of the daybed are high, a normal bedside table won't work. She needs a place for some books and some small things and I want to add a light as well. 3 pics will be on the wall behind the bed.

Maybe some floating shelves on the wall against which the bed will rest? Obviously taking care to ensure that they're not at a height where your daughter will hit her head getting in or out of bed. Or you could move the bed to the wall with the window which would enable you to put a taller than standard bedside table (or even the desk) near the head of the bed. Moving the desk might open up the space at the door for entry/exit as it looks a little cramped at the moment with the design and wardrobe.

IKEA also do a similar daybed with lower sides, I was looking at them for my sewing room. How about a clip on lamp and a cool stool as a bedside, easy to move if you want to open the bed out.

I think that your daughter's room will be really cool and colourful.

We just fixed up my daughters room last year (now 12). Going from baby girl cuteness to tween going on 20. She wanted white & blue. Kept everything simple like wall colour white, furniture white & used quilt covers, pillows, rug, fake plant (cause she managed to kill an indestructible house plant) art work to bring colour & life into the room. Just got new blinds throughout house, she didn't like the pale grey, we are getting a sheer to hang & tie on one side. Simplicity. Anything easily changeable so she can swap the look around. Trust me they change their mind daily on what they like! Anything easily removed from your walls is a good thing- like decals, large pin boards for them to display their art, photos, posters- saves on multi nail holes in the walls. Good luck!

Is that large picture attached to the wall, and if it is why not just hang it? Even if it is secured somehow it has a precarious vibe in what is meant to be a restful space.

I would definitely get them full size single beds, whichever solution you go for. You could get them each their own loft bed with heaps of storage and a desk or pullout desk underneath each. There are lots of different variants of these and some would even help to make them each feel like they have their own room or at least space. If you would like bunk beds that can still be their own single beds later, you should look into 'Bunkers' as this is their trademark. They are Australian made and all pine as well so no nasty chemicals. Pretty sure they also have the loft bed options and desks that you could put underneath. They do bunks that can go at right angles to each other with storage underneath in the corner as well so you could put the beds in the corner opposite the wardrobe and desk near the wardrobe instead of under the window if you prefer this to their own loft and desk/storage underneath:-)

Can you put the bed from one wall so you have a 70cm gap at the other end and then have a cabinet made that is the height of the top of the side of the bed, to give her a large shelf to spread her things on and plenty of room for a lamp. You could have drawers under it to match the bed to give her more storage.

Move the bed plan north. That gives you more room.
