I want to acheive a look similar to the pics I have attatched,I have black lounges and cant change them, Would I be able to pull this off with black lounges?
I think it would be challenging as the rooms pictured are light, bright and very neutral. Have you considered trying some lounge/chair covers? Or possibly utilising extra large throws in neutral colours?
Not really, haephestus is right, the look above is based on lint elements, but you could utilize similar principles, and try to replicate the tones and textures you like in it. However you achieve this, try to cover as much as possible of the black sofas, whether it be an oversized throw, neatly folded over the backrest and down onto the seat, but not over the arms, group large cushions and smaller ones along he back if deep enou, or choose an end to place them. Putting white furniture next to large black pieces, will always change the outcome of this style, if you do that thinking you'd like to linden the room, the effect will be opposite, a the contrast will only high lit the sofas irrelevance. To minimize the black, you should bring in a little more in the corm of accents, like those hurricane lanterns in the first image, symmetry, as in topiary pots either side of a mirror, or pairing lamps on a console table etc. Group a mass of slim black pictures frames with a theme of prints in an organized cluster on a feature wall, the more the better for impact,id say 3 rows of 3 for example. An upholstered diamond buttoned ottoman in a linen with a tray top to house your decor tastes, always load up your coffee table with things to spark interest or conversation, at arms reach. The inclusion of black to this theme, which is a relaxed provincial look, will make it classic. And perhaps more sophisticated. balance is very important with this colour palette, too much black and it starts to feel opposite....cold and contemporary, too much white and it will look retro, but the right amount of creams, beiges, caramels and greys, basically tonal colour range will achieve the look you're after. And layer, just when you think it's enough, throw in one more. Pros always need to know when topair back a rooms styling, but often a home enthusiast are too restrained, perhaps scared of the result, but everything can be undone! Good luck.
