I so agree with Sarah. Let the floor be timber and the cupboards fade away into the walls with a soft putty colour. Those lights so need replacing also...there is a conical clear glass pendant light that would look good here! Pearl Lighting in Willoughby have them and elsewhere. Dont know what you are thinking for the floor, but there are some wonderful jute rugs around such as Armidillo. Enjoy your room! Victoria

Hi Sharon .. Saw your post .. I would recommend using a linear LED light in your rooms. They are compact and low height, which looks like will help with your solution. Also, great light output! The PRO should have cut their losses. It’s a mediocre room, and the photography does it no favours. Trying to support it with false positives just makes observers (who have outlasted many a PRO on Houzz) like me come forward to comment. I’m puzzled why PROs continue to post rooms for comment that aren’t great or in the era of Covid have been compromised by the inability to be professionally styled and photographed. I’m also not sure why the PROs post, on a largely amateur thread, and expect confidence boosts. They may be being mislead by HOUZZ in regard to opportunities for exposure and work leads. Anyway, a regular contributor would recognise the breadth of demographics and tastes that we represent and that we rarely are unanimous. Except in this case, for this room, we are for sure in agreement.

Probably would need timber staircase but have you thought of a sisal runner up the stairs as an alternative to carpet? It keeps the noise down and is very hard wearing
