Hello jbantick, thank you for your interest in this saga! I have now fired the builder as I have been advised by the Dept of Fair Trading NSW that until such time the licence # is issued the builder cannot continue working. He had previously agreed to strip the walls back to the frame however this has not occurred. He has only removed the tiles and has left numerous holes in the walls and there are a lot of areas that has had the first layer stripped off. He told me that this would be addressed when the tiler renders the wall with Ardent. My concern is that if and when the foundation moves will it crack the render and have a follow on affect with the water proofing and grout. He was also suppose to organize for a skip bin to dispose of the rubbish. When I queried him about that as well he said there was no way he was going to pay the $300-$400 when he can use his ute to dispose of the rubbish. Everything he has formally stated he would do has not been done so it has left me uneasy. At this point in time I have only paid $4,000 I have asked for a full refund as all the work was carried out whilst he has been unlicensed and I have asked for the replacement of the tiles and the rubbish removed. I have also notified the Service provider I had sourced him from. He has responded to my email stating that he will need to account for his costs and will re-issue a tax invoice accordingly. I have also notified the Dept of Fair Trading and will lodge a formal complaint in the event the Service Provider will take no action and the builder doesn't comply with my request. I have been advised it will be a long process however it is the principle of the matter even though I may not get a full refund. If it helps to prevent another person going through the same thing I have had to then it will all be worth it

Hi, probably too late to comment now as you've already gone with someone on this project. Along the wall is the most common solution as it is easier to create falls, particularly if you have large format tiles. You will get water out of the shower given this is a just a freestanding panel, and it will also be cold in winter (speaking from experience) without a door on it. In the Australian Standards you are required to have a 'water stop' or step down to at least 5mm - most people don't do this and this is where problems can start from a waterproofing point of view. I have some more photos if needed. The space is used very badly in my opinion, and the spaces are quite small. We think we might brick in the windows to the floor, and have a window on the upper section only as we are rendering the outside of the house so this 'should' work and give us some more space. We have just had blackbutt vinyl planks laid through the rest of the house, and charcoal carpet in the bedrooms. We both like a more minimal style and would like to take the idea of the charcoal through to the bathroom but in a much lighter tone than our carpets. Definitely want to keep a bath in the main bathroom - I love my baths!!! Both bathrooms only have a shower space of 1m x 1m at most and we would like that bigger. Ideally I'd love to work out how to fit a larger vanity in the ENsuite - and we also think we can change the sliding door to a solid door that slides into the wall cavity to give us that space back. Does that all help? SOrry if I've uploaded badly with all the different posts!!!

and raising the floor to allow for the slope can create a kick step at the doorway and need the entry door to be shortened maybe 3-4cms depending on the distance across the whole room..the perfect wet room has the whole floor lowered so the slope begins from the doorway without the lip and the distance is great enough so that overspray is contained ...challenging but not impossible but what is the length and width of the room?
