Timandra knows best, I believe, and has the experience to back her up. My comment is not plant-related, however. You have a front facade of door after door, and nowhere to go, except a narrow horizontal path. How about some front terraces, where you can burst out of one of those front rooms onto a sunny sitting area to have your morning coffee with a neighbor. Why not leave some doors open or change to glass, so the front terrace becomes an outdoor room, and extention of the interior space. How about a pedestrian walk out to the street, or over to the pictured tree, evergreen and plant bed, where you could have a shady terrace. Enjoy the outdoors, don't let your family become nature-deprived, with all the electronics that occupy our kids lives these days. Get them unplugged and outside - you too! You have a wonderful opportunity to achieve great things. Analyze first, then plan.

We have similar and they spread. We didn't plant them but I think birds have picked up seeds from else where and dropped at our place. We back onto a National Park so are getting rid of them, but you have to dig and get the roots out as well as they regrow quite easily... Ours get a bright red/orange flower head on them which look ok but not great in a native area..... Pull them out, roots and all and bin them.

I would turn your rug around so the long side is across the fireplace. Turn your sofa to face the e fireplace with front feet of sofa on the rug. Turn your coffee tables too. Put an arm chair each side facing each and squared to the sofa. Not angled. With front feet on rug. Put the console hard along the back of the sofa. Some lamps either end of console would be great but might be tricky for power. You could put the 3rd hexagon side table to the side of the sofa furthest from the dining room. Consider a statement pendant over coffee tables. You need some colour, texture and pattern with cushions. Add some books, a tray and some kind of vessel to the coffee tables. I think that artwork in the comment just above is perfect. Don't make accent colours all exactly the same as too matchy matchy. If you like purple go with complimentary hues and include pattern.

Hi pallavi the cut out area would be great for the marble table. A large round mirror above it (i just bought one from freedom at a reasonable price). Maybe a hanging macrame pot plant in the corner (hanging from thr ceiling) where ur current plant is......this would be a vocal point as soon as people walk in. Yes a piece of artwork on the opposite wall would be nice to balance both sides. Hope this helps you alittle to get ur creative hat on and just go for it. the only problem is there is no storage as u wanted but you can always put a nice bowl on the console for u to store keys.
