Thank you all! Fiona, the tv wall mount would be very difficult to move..this would be a last resort. Old house = asbestos = wanting to minimise major wall alterations! As for putting the chairs on either side of the kitchen door, I tried this before, and did just again, (I'm a sucker for punishment) and it probably would have been a good look, but the front door opens into the chair on the left side of the kitchen door/opening (on the left side when faxing the kitchen). There is a very limited space here, and the door swings through most of it, it is kind of dead space. Although a long narrow table along the wall was my vision for this area - a place to pop keys etc and put some much needed decorative features. The only other variation I can do is to angle the chairs slightly from where they are now, so that they angle in towards each other (with the one closest to the tv facing slightly away from it. There's only two of us and when we have people over we generally aren't watching tv (we don't watch much at all) anyway. So what is the overall verdict, after all that? Do you think we can still achieve an ok look with the configuration we have, perhaps with a different couch and all the decorative features previously mentioned? Or do I have to sell my chairs too? Although not keen to do that, I would if it means having a room I'm happy with. Thanks again! I have felt very supported by you all during this very stressful weekend of managing a decorating crisis!

If I were you I'd consider a rug that has the neutral tones but also something that has a bit of colour that you can use for inspiration to then pull out for cushions. Remember browns can be cool (blue/grey) or warm (orangier). It looks from the picture that the browns in the pic are warmer so i would go orange/magenta. Keeping in mind I know nothing about your style or colour preferences, I put together this visual to give you an example of how you could work it by pulling out colours from the rug, using texture for interest and mimicking the circles in the picture to bring it together. Can't resist saying something about sliding rugs, they all slide , I have all wool Persian rugs , Afghani rugs and machine made rugs they all slide, you either put a really heavy table on it or you get non slip underlay . As for feather filled cushions , it again makes no difference cheep IKEA ones are actually better then Coco republic ones , they all slide on leather sofas.

The orange modular is a huge statement but you recognize that there is nothing to “connect the pieces together” a simple abstract art piece showcasing the orange, grey and white , black will “Tie” your theme together and place it just about the lounge on the large white wall.. remember not that small so think scale! Your lounge is large so I think a portrait size piece ( hung vertically not landscape) approximately 300mm above your lounge would be a perfect addition. If that is too hard for you to imagine perhaps a bowl on the coffee table with hints of orange grey and white to connect the elements.. Your missing a degree of “softness” some texture so rather than cushions ( which I don’t think ever really work with a leather lounge) perhaps a textured throw combining your colour scheme.. no solid colours... Just a suggestion is the art piece below! If you can’t imagine print a couple of images from Pinterest on A3 paper do you can see if you like the style of painting!
