I love storage, organization and little girls wardrobes!
How adorable and Very special to cater to a little persons needs. Teaches great habits and reinforces an appreciation for not only their things, but in having an ordered way of things. From this, to their whole world.
De-clutter, waste little space, time and effort, saves on effort-ironing, folding and makes use of every inch of useable space. And ofcourse, displays the gorgeous things you fill it with. Pride of place!
Hi mldesign, thanks for the lovely feedback. Ironically, this is a fairly amateur set of photos but quite popular on this site. I think because it's real life and a real improvement, and quite acheiveable. If you look at the teenage boys room on my profile, that' my son's room -another real life situation. It never really looks like the after shot though, because he is normal and I'm happy for him to be that way. I think as long as I provide the faciltiy for him to be organised, I have done my job as a Mum. I did have pro shots of that done last week so it will be a better quality scene soon and I'll do a whole story on the storage for kids.
Yes being oragnised can save a lot of hassle and frustration. People often think I must have an amazingly tidy and organised home, but what I think really matters is finding the right facility to keep you as organised as you personally want or need to be, and that's different for everyone, and changes throughout life and it doesn't have to look pretty to be organised.
I also love this little girl's room photo and the one of the little boy's room that because this client was one of those who told me that what I had done for themtotally changed their lives. Seems like a big deal really, but so glad it works. I also did their walk in wardrobe and the study -also photographed- again just phone shots but you can see what an improvement it was for them. Another in my collection of favourite clients.
Absolutely achievable! And a lovely sentiment in that you mentioned facilitating organization is something you have done as a mum, and I'm sure your children, as your clients will appreciate that.
Storage is often under estimated, and not nearly as considered as it should be. I created custom joinery for many years, and noticed all too often, that the wealthier the client, the more it was considered, and entire house lots of storage would be installed, at an expense, but oh so worth it. That's why I feel Highlighting clever storage sysytems and off the shelf scenarios should be made more accessible, and these sorts of threads help the everyday person sort out their own spaces, little by little. I love that about it, and I too get so much appreciation from organizing spaces that seems to make you feel so good when you stand back to admire what you can finally see!
I also love your restraint! Storage needs change and doesnt need to be pretty, but I must admit, I love those wardrobe shots with colour organized clothing! A little OCD of me, and not at all real life, but appeals so very much to my design eye.
really nice toget to know you, and share thoughts. I love the pretty and beautiful too, but as you elude to budget, I really like to keep my mind open to the princiiples of good storage first- function over form becuase that; it's purpose, and if we flow too quickly to the aesthetic, we risk sacrificing ergonomics which I think is equal priority to space maxiisation. All that said- it's wonderful to have an unlimited budget and have it all.
I have designed an ap to use with my clients that prioritises, a range of conflicting elements in storage design so that we can identify the choices and the conflics. Yes good storage design is far more complex than most people realise. The actual material used for a really well planned cabinet is usuallly the same as a poorly designed one makes me so frustrated. I'm a pretty easy gong person but it really does drive me mad to see cabinets that cost the same amount of money yet are a permanent cause of peoples disorganisation and they unwittingly think it's them! Clients actullay feel relieved when I show them that it's the situaltion, not them that is not working.
Thanks for initialting the thread, i'm really not very good at this sort of thing so great to have your input
