My 16 year old son plays a lot of sport and is studying a fair bit with school work. He has the bedroom downstairs so that his dog can sleep with him (no carpet) and his own very basic bathroom.

I wanted to keep his room uncluttered so designed a wardrobe that was as small as can be while still accommodating all his hanging requirements and then made use of all other storage opportunities which would impact less on his sense of space.. so,

• under-bed storage for shoes and sports equipment,
• bedside cabinet for undies and socks,
• extra storage for sport shorts in the file drawers in the desk.
• File and stationery storage in other file draw and shelves either side of desk.

Knowing his interests lie in things other than tidiness, I enclosed the shelves either side of the desk to hide mess and left just a little open for interest.

Finished with and LED strip light to create mood and task lighting for study.
The space where the desk is was an old sauna, so it was a very deep space. I made the desk the full depth, and behind the file drawers, there's extra storage on the floor for old racquets he wants to keep but never uses.
