Colour scheme for the teak interior of a yacht
Comments (29)@ Henrietta Scholtz!!!! And your BOAT. Amid the banter that often erupts on these forums for reasons that are never really clear to me...(and in which I enjoy particepating just for the fun of it), I've been wondering what if an colour scheme you have decided on for the decor of your boat! Any ideas from among those we suggested? Somehow your poll got hijacked with the non- boat decorating banter but I've had your boat in mind most of the time...wishing that I could be maybe a little hook or a rope so I could come on your adventures undetected and enjoy the decor with which you have embellished your seafaring craft and home. I'd not considered it at all because it was a bit "off the wall"...but...that PINK that came up for discussion on another subject led me to consider a colour scheme of Mustard, Beige, and Mint...with little splashes of an unexpected colour...like that Lipstick Pink...or maybe other groups of colours that are 'accepting' of each other but with a little "wild" splash of the unexpected...a bit like when the sunlight reflects through a splash of water ahd just for an instant you see something brilliant and magical. I've even got my palette and paints out intrigued by the "splash colour" that should not fit with traditional combinations but somehow does.....just a thought. It would be lovely to see any ideas you liked put into practise according to your individual interpretation. I am sure I echo the sentiments of other artistic contributors to your project - Will you tell us and maybe send Pics of any developments? Anyone else who has the good fortune to have a boat would also be welcome here, I am sure, to put forward any creative ideas. How about it Henrietta?...See MoreDesperately need help in new colour scheme
Comments (16)Agree about the paving stones - a mistake to be repaired & pulling them up & allowing someone on eBay to reuse them where they may match, sounds good. However, don't agree that the bricks are a mistake. Personally, I love textured bricks as you can pick out a colour from them to do trims & in 15 years, change the colours & refresh & still go well with the brick colours. I think yours are particularly nice. Removing shutters - great. If you can, take the opportunuty to take off the ornate screens on doors & windows & replace them with the very simple looking security screens. Renewing the roofing material to something that lets in more light is also a good idea. If it's not feasible to do at this time, it can always be planned in steps, but it's good to know ahead what the plan is/will be. Re colour choices. I would suggest not going with the current fashion completely. Remember when everything in every suburb was "mission brown"? Everything that has that colour is immediately dated. Best of luck, and enjoy...See MoreColour Schemes and Clients favourite colour of Orange

Comments (9)I think your biggest problem is the paintwork, particularly as it seems quite dark in the space anyway. If you sell the furniture & replace it you will run at a loss, so I would put that money into repainting instead. Go for a much lighter colour, like Dulux Natural White. Beige & pale blue absolutely work together, & when the beige is on the floor only it will be far less of an impact, it's actually quite a neutral flooring to work with, and certainly a 'beige' floorboard will lends itself well to a Scandinavian look. Also you really want to mazximise the light in the space to achieve a Scandi look so the whiter walls will help this too. If you search "beige and blue" on Houzz I would be surprised if there weren't countless schemes incorporating these colours. Good luck :)...See MoreLynne Kyd
