Hi, Bronwyn - love your kitchen :) We are planning a complete kitchen renovation and love the two choices that you have for the cabinets fronts. Seeing you did your kitchen about 4 years ago my first question will be of durability :) How do both finishes feel - plasticky or more like real wood? For the Voxtorp I will have only wall cabinets (no drawers) of it and wonder with the integrated handle - does it align well (I tend to have OCD and if there are no even will drive me crazy :) ). In the interest of keeping your kitchen friendly to as many users as possible, may I suggest you avoid knobs of any description. Older people and those with disabilities/reduced function of the hand/arm/shoulder often struggle to grasp and pull on a knob. 'Push' closers and D (or U) shaped handles with a min of 50mm height from surface are much friendlier in this regard. We are building our retirement home and - although we are both well and dextrous at present - it is so easy (and much cheaper) to think ahead, we're discovering. Setting up the place to be comfortable for as many users as possible is also pretty satisfying. Personally I'd like brush satin steel long D handles with an elegant line. Black on black might be hard to see for some and in low light.

Creating a beautiful moodboard and pinning all your faves is the best way to start. Stalk all your favourite suppliers and designers social pages for up to the minute inspo. So then it’s just a matter of finding a common theme. It could be a cabinetry colour, backsplash tile, kitchen benchtop or even your tapware colour. Build your style from there. Maybe you pinned lots of black cabinetry, concrete benchtops and gunmetal tapware? Sounds like you’re into the Industrial Style. Crushing hard on marble benchtops, shaker style cabinets and polished chrome tapware? You’re definitely leaning towards a Hamptons style kitchen, for sure! If modern is more your style, you’ve probably got loads of neutral, clean finishes on your moodboard. White push-to-open cabinetry, stone benchtops and brushed nickel tapware is probably more your vibe.

The house is built with a majority of recycled items (windows, doors, wainscoting, etc), will look like a converted shearing shed from the outside and will have a distinctive farm/rustic/re-purposed feel on the inside. Colour scheme is warm grey, navy blue & timber with black used in tapware, door handles, etc.
