I recently decorated our beach condo on a budget. Items to consider are bowls or clear glass vases with found shells displayed. Sisal rug and woven baskets make a coastal feel. The baskets are great for storage as well. I used white light and linen drapes found at ikea.Because of small size of room, i have glass tables to help maximze space. I am adding shutters found at a flea market as headboard for guest bedroom this year. I found many useful items from community sales. I frequent local beach decor shops some pricey to get ideas for arranging and adding items. I would put couch so can look out window to garden. Put it floating in the center of the room, Tv on wall. Two chairs sort of where they are now in photo. Small table and chairs located near door and kitchen. Looks like not much space there but look at ikea furniture as it is for small spaces. One ikea table is shown to be against wall and then pulls out to enlarge, it might work for you.

Can't see why it will be a problem??? I assume the top of the window is the right hight align with the bottom of your wall cabinets. Your cabinetmaker will work it out. You will just need to select a range hood before they finish their design.

thanks so much. I want to draw the attention to the champagne candy pendants and to be the feature behind the dull brown overheads. I'm thinking it's ok to mix metals. I forgot to add the canopy rangehood which will be installed behind the pendants. I hope it won't clash! My stainless steel kitchen appliances are yet to be installed.

Hi Kristy as your dining table is going to be not only in close proximity to the kitchen but running parallel to the island I would decide whether you want pendant lights over the island or a pendant(s) over the dining table. One area or the other needs to be the feature in terms of your lighting. If you have both then each loses its impact. Downlights with surrounds that are as close in colour to the ceiling colour as possible so they 'disappear' are ideal for general lighting. Put them on dimmer switches. LED strip lighting along the kickboard of the bookcase or the kitchen island could be gorgeous and create ambience. Wall lights that simply wash the wall with light or throw patterns on the wall are lovely and as already mentioned, table and floor lamps can be a major decorative feature in any space.
