Help with kitchen lighting!
Comments (15)Like everyone above here ^ LED downlights would be optimal for creating more task focused and general lighting in the space. Due to the nature of your pendant shadowing occurs when the light is on during the evening, this can make it hard to use certain bench space as task areas. If you are unable to do downlights (which can be the case for many customers) wall lights on your task areas would be the next best thing! Try using single spot lights above the areas you use as service spaces, spots that are adjustable would be great as it will allow you to adjust the lighting, be sure that whatever style you select that you pick something that doesn't glare at eye level as this will make it uncomfortable to work with. If you need more help feel free to reach out :) Good luck with your search be sure to post a photo of the final product!...See MoreNeed help redesigning kitchen area
Comments (10)Hi- Here's my 2 cents worth. Everyone thinks they want a large pantry until they realise that it's too deep and you lose things in there all the time. I always say to my customers that a pantry, should you want one, should only be as deep as say a Cornflakes packet. Drawers are much more efficient and everything is easily seen. As I look at your plan, I think I'd extend the room out to the eaves on the existing meals area. This would then straighten out the entire space. ( Someone else suggested that as well) Moving the services around all depends if you have a concrete floor or access to the sub-floor area. I'll try to draw something up and post as soon as I can....See MoreNeed help with kitchen design
Comments (74)We went for a 70 cm induction stove top which works well - bit more space than 60 but doesn't eat up as much bench space. Our space was limited too, and we wanted to maximise both bench tops and storage. I'd go for an under cupboard range hood and us the above space for some more storage - besides it streamlines the look. I personally like a sink and a small one - using the small one for vegetable washing and smaller washing up works well for us. Our space (and the necessity for two corner cupboards) meant that we had to have a small dishwasher - Bosch 45cm wide (several brands make them). It works really well if you have space issues....See MoreHelp! Which kitchen design should I choose?
Comments (164)In my early twenties I designed kitchens for my mother and two aunts (Uncle built them and they worked), but when it came to designing my own - had to fit a constrained space and no possibility of extension - I chewed my lips for ages - like Nicole, I drew and measured ad infinitum, and used graph book walls, views etc. I did one extra thing - which I think worked - I listed all that I wanted to store, and tried to analyse how I liked working in the kitchen. Some things I had to settle for because of space (such as a smaller dishwasher) but most of it has worked. We have a corner pantry, which I (and the cat, husband a bit larger) can walk into, but have not put small appliances in there - they sit in a large drawer beneath the main working bench, which also works well. It all looks good to me Nicole and thinking carefully about needs and how things work in advance usually results in something you'll be happy with. Good luck!...See Moremiacometlady
