Hello Dee, I would 'mirror image' your plan and have the kitchen against the original part of the house (to the left of your step down) and still with the island. You could then have sliding doors facing both decks, and hopefully a beautiful outlook to your garden, also a lovely vista when you walk down the steps... your living dining furniture will have the feel of more room against windows, rather than boxed in by walls.

@jillandpeter, You sound like you're doing exactly what I'm doing and that's researching all your likes and ideas to be sure when it's finally going down, that it's exactly what you want. I haven't even got a roof on my home yet but I've already got a group of photo's that I can refer to for when I actually get closer to actually getting my kitchen built. My suggestion is to look at the kitchens on Houzz, you can isolate what you are after like, a wall colour for example, tiles or timber or modern or eclectic etc...etc... this will at least narrow down the amount of photo's to look at from literally hundreds of thousands, to perhaps hundreds, you can save the pictures in your ideasbook or even print them off and then study the ones that you like the most and copy them or simply use them for inspiration. I would like to offer advice on just one thing if you dont mind, you mentioned a butlers pantry/kitchen, I too was going to have, one but in my case, I realized that I was going to spend most of my day inside a room without a view let alone a window, so I changed my plan and removed it. Make sure you have a view or window or you will end up hating this room!!! Good luck. Cheers, Barbara

It might be worth while to consider the rest of the space also. Your breakfast bar/kitchen is located quiet closely to your dining table so depending on your kitchen space (apologies, I can't see too much of your kitchen from the photo) you might want to think about the overall style you want to achieve for you entire open plan space, and select pendants that would work for both your kitchen and dining. This is a project I worked on recently that shows how two different types of pendants can work harmoniously in the one space that is most similar to your kitchen and dining set up. Keep us posted on what you decide!

I think that top one from Amart will look lovely with the room and will definitely carry on with your timber throughout, it’s different, has a light wood that will pick up the white of the tables, I would love it myself. Are you able to get a larger photo of it and see how it looks near tables.
