My living room needs brightening up

I want to paint the Tv stand a lighter colour as well as coffee table however with the coffee table i may put a padded top on it
My sofa has to stay , however i maybe able to get my husband to recover it
If i can persuade him
If he doesn't change it how can i sprouse up the sofa
My carpet is light green (may change )
Fire surround is wood and has to stay that colour as well as skirting boards
Can i paint the fire screen
Also need a new lamp stand
Any suggestions to brighten and update this space

I like all of your furniture in this picture, except the mirror and the lamp. I wouldn't paint any of it - you may ruin them forever.
Remove the clock and other bits above the fire mantel - it looks cluttered under the mirror. I would look for either another mirror for above the mantel, or a bright, modern painting/print and have it large and square to cover some of the void above the existing mirror.
I would also use a light fitting that is flush with the ceiling. The lamp is sad - move it to the shed.
You could consider cushion colours that are bright and colourful. Because your upholstery is patterned, a mix of plain green cushions in sync with the carpet colour could work, or even different reds in a variety of textures.

Nothing wrong with the furniture. Recover the sofas in a clean, unpatterned light coloured fabric and, as the pro says, ditch the mirror and floor lamp.

Hi there I think that adding in wooden decorations and real/fake plants can help bring a bit of life in to your space. And the tones of plants and wooden/nature looking items work really well with neutral colours. They can be both cheap and expensive depending on your taste so finding a bargain or something to suit your needs should be quite easy. If you want a more elegant look marble decorations even if small can be a great way to add a look of class. Candles are also a great way to add in some nice smells to invite people into your home. Keep in mind that sometimes less is more. Don't overdo it and have some fun! It's nice to shop for your home.

Been away just saw this I agree with others remove round coffee table replace with a not too large rectangular glass. Wall hang tv, (my choice above fireplace) remove tv console (u could use a low shelf of book case for DVD etc. ) replace with chest. Another option if it fits: Relocate left bookcase to where black recliner is & put recliner in that corner with floor lamp maybe behind it. The square box coffee tbl also looks out of place. Also Could one of door openings be filled in if there is an alternative access out of the room to the right of fire place. Love the fire place & floors.

Ok, I see ...one possibility would be to retain the unit as shelving where it is and wall mount the tv on the adjacent wall so that you can optimise seating arrangement. Otherwise I think you are on the right track, a circular rug would work, maybe a couple of mid century chairs might look nice, you could put some trailing plants up high away from your little one, maybe a basket or two to keep toddler clutter in check would go with an eclectic kind of look. If you move to a larger space in the future, mid century chairs would be easy to pair with a couch.. I think try and bring as much storage as you can to keep the space manageable.
