Need idea on how to decorate a small open living space please.
Comments (18)Hi ASVInteriors, I think you forgot to attach a link to the Ikea chairs (would love to see which ones you meant :) The only worry I have with moving the sofa closer to BR2 wall is that it might block the flow from the entrance through to the large-ish hallway (where it has tall bookcases domintaing one wall and an Ikea 4x2 Expedit uni on the other wall) into the living room (see the plan). But maybe it would work? I should try to move it around a bit. At the moment eh sofa is moved onto the 344cm wall temporarily, with the coffee table in front it. Not sure if it shows up in the pictures well but we have quite a large 6 seaters dining table in the kitchen, which is placed fairly close to the carpet area. I would say that the distance between the back of the closest chair (tucked in, not when pulled out), on one end of the table, to the edge of the carpet area is only 20cm. By moving the sofa closer to the BR2 wall, and with the diving wall between kitchen and hallway being there, it may close the flow? Hmmm...I am not a designer so sometimes I can't visualise it first, maybe I should try to move it around a bit. I did try to move the sofa closer to the BR2 wall and felt a bit claustrophobic of how little space (on carpet area) is left at the back of the sofa. Definitely have to think seriously about getting a large ottoman :)...See MoreWhen renovating should I have 2 small living areas or 1 big area?
Comments (3)just had a look at your existing plans for the second storey.. 1/ I'd make it all open plan .. First I'd move your bed 4 downstairs into the theatre room..reason ? bathroom is existing down there..you can turn it into a master suite..bathroom..study as retreat. which then leave you all that room ..bed 4 ..kitchen ..meals..lounge..foyer to just be one huge living area.. from that living area you can pop in a stacker door/bi folds to lead to your screen verandah. Personally I'd get rid of the screens and open it right up with banisters so you can have fresh air flowing in. You can do the same with the front as well to make it one huge area without much changes....See MoreHelp with Living area decor
Comments (10)Hi Raman! Megan from Bluethumb online art gallery here. I agree that a large artwork would really add to the space and fill up the empty wall above the couch. Having artworks really adds personality to a room, and our philosophy here at Bluethumb is no nude walls! I saw that a canvas print has been suggested, but why buy a print when you can have a unique, original artwork by a local artist on your wall? Also, if you're thinking of floating shelves, a great way to make them a feature is some small framed prints! I think some white floating shelves on that 105cm wall by the archway would look great. I have a few suggestions for you: For the large piece above the couch, I'd go with a green toned piece that ties into the accent colour of the cushions. A nice landscape or nature themed piece would work well. https://bluethumb.com.au/claire-souter/Artwork/the-leaves-in-my-tropical-garden I've mocked this first option up for you - https://bluethumb.com.au/kitmcneill/Artwork/shifting-mist-over-wentworth-falls-blue-mountains-landscape https://bluethumb.com.au/fenton-bjw/Artwork/dionysus-s-eminence https://bluethumb.com.au/elaine-green/Artwork/my-view-or-the-way-i-see-it-elaine-green https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/pennyp/artwork/melbourne-summer For some smaller pieces for the floating shelves, you could try some prints or small original pieces by these popular artists: https://bluethumb.com.au/angus-martin/Artwork/crowded-v3 https://bluethumb.com.au/jasmine-radakovic/Artwork/female-form-151176 https://bluethumb.com.au/daniellagermain/Artwork/snowy-mountain-cottages https://bluethumb.com.au/sally-browne/Artwork/magpie-lennox-street-flame-tree https://bluethumb.com.au/darlene-lavertyty/Artwork/australian-wattle-watercolour-painting-limited-edition-print-large-framed-darlene-lavett https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/megangeorgephoto/artwork/floral-accent Let me know if you'd like any others mocked up, or if I can help with any more suggestions. Hope this helps!...See MoreHelp with decorating a small living room
Comments (13)Thanks Siriuskey I lean more towards the hamptons style in your photos.. Love the softness and the flowers...I worried that bringing metal framed tables into the room they would give more an industrial look? I think I need to find an app that I can place furniture around the room ....See More- 7 years ago
