Timber kitchen benchtops - how durable are they?
Comments (5)We went for timber benchtops from ikea for our last kitchen reno. Have had them about 18months now and really love them. Everyone who comes into our kitchen admires the benchtops first of all. They have marked: some scorch marks where i accidentally put down a hot saucepan lid, a couple of very light scuffs from where my husband dumped his tools heavily on the counter. But I like that kind of lived in feel. If you like perfect/pristine look I would suggest something other than timber. Even glulam super varnished counters don't stay pristine. But they really do give a lovely warmth and dare I say elegance to the kitchen, and I'm pretty sure we're going to go for the same option in our next kitchen (moving house soon!)....See MoreKitchen bench top choices
Comments (4)Hi Pineapplerose, I think there may be a few layers to your dilemma. The first is about fashion and taste (as it should be!!) Mid brown or lighter colours will provide a more contemporary look but you'd be best to surround it with fittings and finishes that with a modern shout out. That is, you can stylise the bench top further with your selections. The second is to look at composite stone products which will give you far more choice - usually with a lower price. Note: 'Granite-look' composite stone benchtops are a premium product but well worth the spend. An important question to ask about composite stone benchtops is the % of resign used as this will indicate how stain resistant it will be. (Note: the only products that are 100% stain resistant are glass or stainless steel) If you'd like some kitchen design inspiration, see: 101 Kitchen and Bathroom Design Ideas Good luck: Richard@themakeovergroup (Melbourne)...See MoreCaesarstone or granite - that is the question!
Comments (14)ksangus there is a big difference in the two colours. We assume your black is streaking, fingerprinting and looking patchy... .This happen with all quartz no matter the brand. Caesarstone jet black, night sky and especailly vanilla noir do exactly the same. In fact Vanilla Noir is nortorious for chemically etching from anything caustic especially glass cleaner etc Use the correct cleaning products and you will love it as much as your white colored quartz Stone & Quartz Care, Cleaning Essentials We also suggest you view our cleaning videos to make life easier to care for them...See MoreKitchen bench top - Granite polish services
