Depends on who is in your family and how you intend you use the spaces. Is the rumpus for grown ups or children to hang out. Adults may prefer a pool table and/or seating for watching sport or movies on a large screen. You have a designated alfresco area so assume you prefer casual entertaining outside and would have little requirement for formal dining? In the family dining area, TV on hall wall with L sectional on rumpus wall and dining table for everyday meals as designated. We use our 'lounge' for watching TV in the evenings as we are not daytime TV watchers but you may want to use it a retreat or had in mind a more formal setting. You have plenty of options to discuss with your family to work how best to configure the spaces that suits everyone. Good luck with pulling it all together.

Hi, interesting dilemma. The couch looks brilliant - it just needs a little more in the room to make the space welcoming and lived in (I assume from the pics that it is already in the Living Room on the plan you provided). So, from your pictures, the first 2 pics show the couch in roughly the location I'd suggest. This should give you a view out the 2 windows (when blinds open), good circulation from the corridor into the living zone, and great access form the dining/kitchen/living zone through the doors to the Alfresco area. (The 3rd pic showing a different location 'blocks' the flow of the living room). Next I'd suggest a rug, a TV cabinet to fit between the windows, and one or two more chairs to complete a cosy 'conversation' area. The chairs could be against the bedroom(?) wall opposite the alfresco doors. A great light, a standard lamp or 2 can also complement this arrangement. Best of luck, C

It keeps life interesting to have a Summer setting taking advantage of the view and outdoors, then a Winter setting keeping thoughts inside. The room seems large enough to cater for a few seating arrangements. A 3-seater sofa and two armchairs (which can sit together with a small table between) and a coffee table in centre (to cater for kids play time (have a shelf underneath to quickly hide toys in a basket. Then in Summer the 3-seater with it's back to thecupboard wall - although leaving traffic space and maybe a table where the heater was for flowers and framed photos. Then a decorative chair or two to add spice - even a couple of dining chairs look good against a wall, they can look like artwork. Image 1: this is a clever way to hide a TV. Image 2: interesting chairs together Image 3: Great wall unit and tonal colouring. TV's come as mirrors and artwork these days. Image 4: Dining chairs against the wall and walk space behind sofa to outdoors. A TV is behind the sofa, so not being the focal point.

your new plan looks like it might work with support beams to replace the removed wall and if you were living in the house i'd suggest that you rearrange the furniture to suit your new layout so that you could see that the front lounge area would not be big enough for the two couches with suitable walking space but moving the door from the entry hall would allow more space for more comfortable furniture arrangements and i've used a 2100 x 900 three seater couch and 900 x 900 for a single armchair and blocking the extra door from hallway to old kitchen would also allow for more counter and wall cabinets
