Hello Down Under! I love your house. Beautiful and I agree with keeping the color. Really nice. How about replacing the metal staircase with a nice raised deck to fill in that space and give a place to sit and put plants. Then turn the stairs toward the street to make them more inviting. Wooden stairs. As for landscaping after that, well, how about some of those fabulous English borders with lots of perennials? Replace metal awning with wood? Or fabric? Also, if I were you, I would keep the fence. It is ugly but it has great value --especially if you have a dog. How about planting English ivy all along the fence. We have it in our yard growing on a large rock and by the second year it was taking over. This can cover your fence completely and make it look, well, English. It will even grow up the cinder block wall--if you can handle that much ivy. There are some pretty green and white ivy varieties that would look great with your house color. I have another one here that is pale green and white. Not a fast grower but very pretty. Anyway, great house. All the best!

I would definitely get them full size single beds, whichever solution you go for. You could get them each their own loft bed with heaps of storage and a desk or pullout desk underneath each. There are lots of different variants of these and some would even help to make them each feel like they have their own room or at least space. If you would like bunk beds that can still be their own single beds later, you should look into 'Bunkers' as this is their trademark. They are Australian made and all pine as well so no nasty chemicals. Pretty sure they also have the loft bed options and desks that you could put underneath. They do bunks that can go at right angles to each other with storage underneath in the corner as well so you could put the beds in the corner opposite the wardrobe and desk near the wardrobe instead of under the window if you prefer this to their own loft and desk/storage underneath:-)

add posts to the end of the lower bed and add a lightweight curtain rod with rod pocket curtains...a "flimsy" structure will be safer if the kids decide to pull on the curtains as the rod will fall down rather than be a too much danger to them but in my experience little kids don't really need all that formal decoration and would be just as happy with a sheet put under the top mattress to hang down and make a tent out of the space underneath ..two single sheets or a big sheet cut in half so that they can be tied back to the sides without covering the ladder or drawers and use the same and/or colour coordinated sheets on the beds and for window curtains
