Can you get European-style mini bathtubs in Australia?
Comments (7)I live in the country and am completely reliant on tank water. I also have a grey water recycling system and can tell how much water has gone through it at any one time as the filters need to be cleaned after so many litres of water go through them. I can almost guarantee that the bath with a couple of grand kids splashing about for twenty minutes having fun will use less water than any of their parents showering does. Even topping it up with more hot water if needed. Unless you are very conservative with your showers baths are not that bad and the value they add to the resale of the average home outweighs any downside. I definately wouldn't buy a house without one. I have had a house that has a bath the size of the shower though, about 1m x 1m by maybe 40cm deep and I think it was called a hip bath. My sister in law has one at her house, she got it from Lanark, as her house only had a shower which is not practical and it was the cheaper option than redoing the whole bathroom. I dont know if that is what you are after or not....See MoreDilemma about bath tub/shower tiles
Comments (2)Aluminium does under go oxidation, although it is white. Unlike iron oxidation which is orange. If the tile is designed for use in a wet area it is probably coated or anodised to prevent white oxidation. Check if cleaning will be a hassle (risk stripping the coating)....See MoreBath tub tapware - freestanding vs in wall spout
Comments (6)Bathroom renos can be daunting as there are many things to consider and usually the space can be limiting. Free standing baths are stunning and come in many shapes and sizes. You have mentioned that you and the boys will use the bath, ensure you factor in the "users" height as this will determine the bath size and depth. Firstly is the plumbing remaining in the same position? Floor mounted bath mixers can be installed with a concealed under floor box or the above floor connection method. The concealed box method is advisable before the flooring is installed, and has the benefit of a lower profile floor plate, which is preferred. The above floor method may be done where the first approach is not possible. Free standing bath mixers visually create an impact when paired with the freestanding tub, ensure you have enough room around the tub as it will be difficult to clean if it sits too close to walls and or vanities etc..many freestanding bath mixers offer functional hand showers as well as the spout, ideal for washing soap out of kids hair. Would love to see a lay out of your bathroom to assist with tap ware placement. Good luck with your bathroom renovations, always happy to assist you. Comments (7)@oklouise thank you for drawing up my thoughts. @Ibby Toby As oklouise has suggested, a sliding glass door, or even a glass door, will make it a separate space. @Colin Malzard Colin, unless you request an extra wide toilet space, the standard for an enclosed WC is usually 800-900mm. This is an open space, so unless you are an above average sized person, then 800mm is good....See MoreUser
