Splashback Colour
Comments (20)A cheaper alternative to glass is the metaline range from Laminex, and maybe something to consider Laminex launched this product to compete with glass splash-backs. Your cabinetmaker can install it, and it can be cut on site as required to fit around power points etc. The range of colours are obviously limited compared to a paint finish but there are some lovely metallic's in the range - I'e added a photo of our sample folder to give you some ideas. In regards to the colour itself, you could stay with a neutral, but I would go for a splash of colour! as the rest of the kitchen is neutral, choose something that you just love, and will work with your planned decor, and go for it! I would think about putting something on the back of the island bench as well, timber is being used beautifully these days, so depending on your floor tiles it could add a lovely warm touch to your area....See MoreWhich white do you like better?!
Comments (75)Hi there, having recently been through a similar decision process for our Reno I can really recommend ordering the Dulux A4 samples. They are made with the real paint on them so you can move them around from room to room to see exactly what it will look like without having a heap of swatches painted on the wall. They have a sticker backing but I used blu-tac so 8 could move them over and over. Good luck...See MoreFeature wall colour - did I get it wrong?
Comments (37)Sue, congratulations. You've not only identified a colour you feel happier about, you've actually created it. I suspect you'll now be able to create a pleasing mix of warm greys, plywood browns, stone tones, coppers or bronzes, warm whites, etc; maybe with a bit of yellow added come spring; and you'll be able to live with the brownish sofa until you're ready to update or reupholster. I have some KAS cushion covers from a couple of years ago which show how this kind of colour mix can be done. One has stylised flowers (a la Mexican) in grey, brown and caramel with a touch of burnt orange. (You mention liking ochre.). Another is lighter grey, brown, taupe and bone-white on a natural linen. A third (less subtle) is warm greens with brown, taupe, yellow, white and a little aqua. I'm not saying go for styles that are a few years out of fashion. But do be confident enough to resist a harsh, hard-edged option if a gentler one is right for your temperament and household and the room's aspect. Robyn...See Moreexterior colour ideas
Comments (13)I agree with not going dark, the house is already in quite a lot of shadow with the deep & low eaves, so I do think the butter colour actually works quite well in that regard. But it probably is a little dated, use my favourite colour of all time (drumroll!)... Dulux Dieskau. It's a light taupe/warm grey and looks beautiful with a fresh white like Casper White Quarter (which I have used!). The white will keep it fresh and bright and of course tie in with your window frames. Then I would choose a 3rd dark colour that will tie in with your roof just for your guttering and garage door. So fascias, eaves, posts & gate in white....See Moresignarture
