Need help updating look of home without painting wooden trims
Comments (40)Hello kellyi. The living room needs straight, long drapes in a simple pattern, I think. No swags, no tie-backs, no extra anything. I'd look for something with a light, off-white background as the room is a bit heavy with brown, and perhaps a geometric pattern that introduces your favourite colour. It could happily be green, but the room is so neutral it could be anything. Pick up that colour in a couple of throw pillows, which could also be patterned, or plain. On the lighting I think you could probably get better advice from someone else. But I'd also like to suggest big art for your fireplace to hang just a few inches above the mantlepiece. Again something modern, light and bright. Preferably with a touch of brown in it but other colours predominating -- including the curtain colour. I think these are both charming and cheerful, but of course nothing is more about your personal taste than choosing a painting. These are on etsy.com, in the landscapes section....See MoreHelp! Comments (6)If I were styling that room I'd add some warmth and soften it a little. I'd go with a beautiful big timber table, to fill the space, some fabric chairs, for comfort (or timber if you have small kids, like me, and need to be able to wipe them down!). I'd skip the rug until they're a bit older, and put in some big pot plants, and a lovely artwork- and voila!!! Have a look at our shop, there are some lovely quality pieces, that would look great! https://www.northhem.com.au/...See MoreHELP! does this need color ow what to make it look nicer?
Comments (17)Yes to much larger rug and accent cushions in var, hinge colours, sizes & textures. Love the white sheers, striking floor lamp and large plants in raised pot stands. I also would be inclined to swap out the existing coffee table and side tables for glass-topped ones, a large circular & gold for coffee table, and either round or square side tables. I'm guessing the furniture is angled to take advantage of the view? It isn't welcoming as is so I would experiment with different arrangements. Where does that small pocket door lead? What is the room right behind the living room (where large door opening is)?...See Morepennyjm
