External Paint Colours
Comments (7)I love this house because it is quite sculptural. Before you paint I would remove ALL the vegetation that is crammed up in front of the house. Declutter. I think the garage is a visual problem that needs to be dealt with. SO a brave solution would be to paint it all beautiful black...( a warm black (dulux Terrible Billy has warmth)...nothing with blue or green in it..they look cold) ...including the garage door, or do garage and left side of house black and middle section maybe a colour or a sexy grey. OR paint the whole thing a really good white. Be careful...some whites look like undercoat. Needs to be a warm white. Then you could paint the left wing another shade to distract from the garage. Tell us what you decide....good luck...See MoreExternal Facade Colour Help
Comments (8)Hi Chris. I like the colour scheme and materials for your house, although a few things come to mind. Why have two different timber finishes, Merbau and Western Red Cedar? Is Merbau not available as a garage panel? Or is Western Red Cedar not available as post cladding? If they are both available for both applications, I would choose one for both applications. You mention black Sikaflex as joint filler for the cladding, and off-White mortar for bricks. Would you consider black mortar for brickwork for consistency, or do you not like the look of it? I bring these questions up because there are a lot of materials, which is great, but maybe minimising the number of colours and using them more consistently would produce a more cohesive visual outcome. I googled images for brickwork and black Sikaflex and this is the only decent one I could find quickly - just to give you an idea of how it might look....See MoreHelp with external house paint colour on woodwork
Comments (7)Thanks for your suggestions everyone....sorry it's not a great photo. The roof is grey. Perhaps we paint the cream parts a warm white and the green either sage green or grey. I agree That the picket fence should be white, just how to tie it in with the rest of the house? Thanks again....See MoreNeed Help With External Colours and Design
Comments (17)totally agree and would not like to any of the above lollie pop colours, Using White & black trims is classic and ageless and works beautifully with the bricks and terracotta roof. The brief is to keep the budget in mind, and I agree with not rendering or painting the brick especially just the front. Other than what is already planned, I'd concentrate on painting windows and trims and as mentioned replacing the gutters and down pipes, making over the driveway and clean up and plant the garden. Something that might make the house look a bit more up to date is how the carport is filled, will the wall facing the street be board that's rendered , timber, cut metal sheets or 50's concrete blocks painted or not. When you used to fly into Sydney it was a sea of red roofs now they're all monument and the walls similar. cheers...See Morekooky_karen
