Try a mid-century modern rug like Hemphill's Rex Ray Area Rug Collection or Jaipur Traverse Caracas. I looked up 'mid-century modern rug' and chanced upon these on Houzz. I like the muted colours which would soften the cream on brown. The mid-century motifs would highlight the mid-century chair. Good luck!

Hey Dounia The colour and the way it has been painted is very much what we saw in the late 90's and early 2000's when we all went through the textured paint feature wall craze. But, saying that Paint and design technology have come a long way since then and I would encourage you not to give up on the copper idea and use a modern approach and product. Have you priced having the whole lot re waterproofed and tiled? You are already doing the hardest section, it may not be that much more to do the lot. Otherwise agree with above match to the white tiles in the rest of the bathroom. But it will always look like a repair.
