The traditional solution is to introduce lots of soft furnishings like rugs, curtains and plush sofas. There are also padded acoustic panels that are commonly used in noisy cafes (often fitted to the ceiling) which help with cafe noise. There are also perforated plasterboard acoustic sheets, and acoustic plywood panels if are happy to do some building work. Looks like an expensive build with lots of room. Are you trying to save money or build in cabinetwork that makes the most of the space and will look great? I wouldn't go with Ikea Pax with all of your corners. I wouldn't go with your builder who will probably use his standard cabinetmaker. I would go with a specialist wardrobe storage design and install company such as the Clever Closet Company for the best result. Do it once and do it right. I'm not a huge fan of the door. I'm thinking I'd prefer a timber door with glass panels of some description. Our two current couches are light grey but I'd like to replace them with a blue corner one in the near future. TV unit and bookshelf on the back wall are white. The walls in the room will be Dulux White Exchange Half and the skirting boards/trim will be Dulux Snowy Mountains Quarter. I'm unsure about having a medium-dark grey feature wall (either paint or textured wallpaper) for tv unit and tv to be wall mounted on - this is the wall to the left of the shelving in the image. Floorboards will be a bit lighter and more natural in tone - not as orangey as pictured.
