How do I make my new house look like a finished, cosy home?
Comments (63)Hi, your home looks pretty good, you have done a lot on the interiors. Coming back to the question, yes, you can add a wallpaper behind the television, go for a textured wallpaper as it will create a compliment to your television. As you have decorated with wooden elements, you can go with a bookshelf on the wall. And, there is one more thing which will be a simple addition but will look perfect and that is an antique wall clock. An antique wall clock will make your wall look great without any fuss....See MorePath through grass to the entry of house.
Comments (3)Yes, agree with the above comment. It would be the same if your design consisted of a continuous path. If laid correctly, you should have no problems with maintenance. Hire a qualified tradesperson and you should have no problems. I think the polished concrete stepping stones will look great with your style of home....See MoreWhat flooring do I use on new back door entry and in studio

You could improve this situation by having a cathedral ceiling in the alfresco, with either a gable or skillion roof. Low angle winter sun passing under the roof, to the northern dining room window. I'd consider a split skillion roof. Not only improving the northern light in the dining room, but greatly improving the daylighting in the main hallway. This is an extremely long hallway, so will be dark without lights on. If you look at a split skillion roof design, you could incorporate some east facing clerestory (highlight) windows over the hallway. This roof will also have a large west facing roof area. Great for afternoon solar PV generation. They'd also be a good sized east facing roof area, though the eaves from the clerestory windows could cause some afternoon shading on the eastern roof face. Again, western windows are an issue. Particularly for the master. The previous plan have you the option of a southern window (much better than western), but that's not an option in this plan. So seriously consider how you will shade this western master window. The western dining room window isn't a great idea. I'd be eliminating this, or keeping it very small. Same goes with all the western windows. Keep them small in size. Make sure there's a door separating the living area from the main hallway. You want to be able to heat/cool your living areas, without heating or cooling the rest of the home....See Moredenisreno
